Went to Caprice brasserie in Whitley bay tonight. Didn't expect out in shitley to be that nice.  Had the guinea fowl. Lush.

Try Bay's Bistro in Whitley. That's quality too.

Aye, it is like Mr&Mrs. Eats in the Sunday Sun, but for the purpose of answering 2J's query, it did the job.

I just meant in terms of the general writing of it, nowt to do with the query. Just shocked that it got printed tbh

A shout out to Barca Art Cafe on Front Street in Tynemouth, in what was the venerable & indeed terrible Rawalpindi. We went there Sunday evening & were bowled over by the quality of it.

Locally caught mussels in white wine & pesto shared starter, with homemade foccacia, followed by pork sunday lunch for her (nice touch was homemade potato rosti) & monkfish & chorizo cassoulet for me that i could have been eating in Bilbao or Donostie such was the quality of it. No desserts, but coffees & a bottle of Tempranillo, as well as pre-prandial Wylam tankard for me & some la-di-dah Italian (not Peroni) for her all came to less than £50.

superb quality, attentive service & rather enjoyable low level musical background that included Primal Scream, Neil Young & The Yardbirds, this is a place we must revisit.

Took the missus to Dabawall which is a new indian restaurant on new bridge street (or high bridge street... one or the other) and the food there was excellent, as was the service.

Popadoms, 2 starters, 2 mains, a rice, a nan, a beer for me and a wine for her - £50 so pretty decent price

There's one of them all you can eat meat joints in the Metrocentre now.  Get to try loads of different cuts of loads of animals.

Never been to that one, but the one in Leeds was lush.

Bloody hell, that's a blast from the past. We used to go there after an afternoon perusing second-hand bookshops. I had a fucking thrilling childhood.
How did we get from the Blue Lamp Disco to cracking up in San Francisco?

The Gate of India is still there on the opposite side of the road, between the library & the Stuffed Dog

Looks the part. Dont fancy travelling to far tho, prefer to stay in the city. Looked up that Blackfriars, would do me but the Mrs is bit of a plain eater. Doesnt seem to be too many places about unless your into Chinese or Italian.
