So the SUn reckons that 8 Premier League clubs have been dodging tax the way Rangers did.
Could we be one of them?
Should we be worried?

The soul of man has been given wings, and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow — into the light of hope, into the future, the glorious future that belongs to you, to me and to all of us. Look up, Hannah. Look up.

I'm sure that's exactly the sort of thing Ashley would have turned up during due diligence.
Oh bugger.

We shouldnt be worried (from the point of view of going bust) because Ashley won't let us go bust. He's got too much of his own cash involved.
Leazes' general point about running clubs til they go bust and then just starting them again as a new company free of debts isn't applicable if an owner has spent £100's of millions acquiring the asset in the first place. It's only a model if the ownership has nowt to lose by folding. ie if we genuinely did have crippling debts when SJH and Shepherd left, and their only stake was £1 million which they'd already recouped 50 times over, that's when you'd elect to go bust rather than finding 50 odd million £ to keep your creditors happy etc.
Whether we've got outstanding taxes to pay and that will have a bearing on what money is made available for the team is another matter entirely.

It's all to do with image rights isn't it? That'll be the likes of Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and two others.
Under Shepherd, I'd have considered that we could we be one of the others - under Ashley I very much doubt it.

Change is inevitable, unless you're dealing with a vending machine.

It wont affect us, Ashley has us paying for players upfront so he wouldn't incur needless interest.
It really depends what interest is payable for deferring payments. If it's below 10%, some clubs will be doing it as debt management.

Anyway, didn't Guthrie say in a court case that his basic wage was £4k pw? That seems low for a PL footballer, could it be that the rest was being paid from an EBT?
