  1. That's it, then. That's it for me. I thought it was canny funny them getting beat by Fleetwood and confirming their non automatic promotion but knowing the goals went in to the Captain Pugwash song is probably my highlight to their season so far, maybe even better than losing a penalty shootout at Wembley.

  2. They really are a gift. No matter how miserable our situation is with Ashley as owner and Rafa probably leaving, they’re getting beaten by Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town to the sweet sounds of captain pug wash.

  3. Netflix will be lapping this up. The poverty porn version of a football documentary. The worse a season they have, the better telly it makes

  4. The new manager thread on RTG is delightful. Answers range from people I’ve never heard of to Kevin Phillips to getting Brewecy back. Quite why he’d drop from Sheffield Wednesday is not explained. To top it all off, they’re getting nostalgic about Allardyce again, who won about 8 games. “Seems like years ago” said one mackem, who is apparently wistful about surviving their third consecutive relegation battle.

  5. Well yeah. Their trajectory is taking them to league 2. It's inteteresting in that thread some at least are waking up to the fact that "Charlie" being a PR man isn't necessarily a good thing. He's fast becoming a tory cunt now the honeymoon is over. Eventually when even the more gullible mackems realise they have been played, it will turn toxic in the way only mackems know how to do. Then the club is completely fucked. Can't wait.

  6. Best thing about this is that apparently Fleetwood play the Captain Pugwash theme when they score. The shame of getting beat with that fucking tune blasting out

  7. I mean, think how lucky we are for this Netflix documentary Any other football team supporters in the land, if they were given the chance to watch behind the scenes coverage of the misery of a second consecutive relegation for their rival club, followed by an abject humbling in League One, they'd think all their Christmases had come at once The fact that it's bought and paid for by Sunderland fans is just.. all the more incredible. "We'll pay for you to watch us burn". The darkest days in the history of their club, broadcast to the world. Amazing.

  8. There's no way Netflix are going to pass up putting Pugwash in the documentary immortalised on film.

  9. Well we’ve been saying it since “The Don” bought* the club. It was fairly obvious to everyone he was a snake oil salesman. He came from Eastleigh FC for fucks sale and half of the players will have more money than him. He got the fans to replace their own seats for fucks sake and the idiots lapped it up. We’ve experienced the friendly owner having a pint with the fans and he turned out to be a total dickhead. It takes professionals to run a football club not pissheads. Obviously I have absolutely zero sympathy for them, although perhaps I’m feeling a healthy amount of schadenfreude. They’ve been full of themselves all season. Even if they go up they’ll be bummed senseless in the championship and in all seriousness league one might be more their level at the minute.

  10. They've already turned on Jack Ross. Now they are turning on their owners. Delightfully predictable. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/charlie’s-battle-cry.1471784/

  13. For as much as Liverpool had their spells, I thought from about an hour onwards, Barca sussed them and outclassed them. The two divvies on BT Sport were asking why Liverpool were trying to be so precise instead of crossing balls into space, somehow ignoring that Barca had every defender as well as Busquets, Rakitic and Vidal in the box when Liverpool had the ball out wide, completely restricting the space. If Dembele wasn't such a donkey, the tie would be done and dusted. As much as I'd like to see Ajax's young team win, I think this Barca side has too much know-how, quality and experience at this stage to be beaten by anybody. Not to mention Messi being in the mood for another treble.

  14. Major characters have very rarely been killed in battle in GoT and its been continued here, they die unexpectedly in smaller circumstances, ambushes and assassinations ( ) or as a result of the game. I'm far more interested to see how the remaining threads play out now that the "big bad" is out of the way and we're back to relatively human stories, the lannister siblings(will bronn do it? Who will kill cersei? Where are Tyrions true loyalties between his family, his queen and someone who he is clearly affectionate for as setup last ep in Sansa), Jon and Danearys(does Jon even want the throne is he can take it? Can he prove his claim? Will Dany accept it?), CLEGANEBOWL, how are the major houses going to be re situated since half of them are completely dead, the mormonts, freys, baratheons, tyrells, tarlys, boltons and umbers are all out of legitimate heirs off the top of my head. An assassin killing a king in GoT makes far far more sense than a massive battle and a duel with an honourable warrior doing the deed.

  16. What about the regular protests outside Newcastle M&S? I mean, do the managers at M&S really have the power to stop the occupation of the west Bank? Those protestors used to piss me off, trying to stop me getting my piri piri curry.

  17. I’ve only been to Rhodes the once but it’s a large, interesting island well worth exploring. As for places to stay I went to Pefkos which is just another family resort that’s been overdeveloped and was once just a quiet fishing village. It made a decent base and had some nice restaurants etc but it’s about as ‘Greek’ as I am. I’d hire a car wherever you are. Rhodes Old Town is amazing (largest intact walled medieval town in Europe I think). Accommodation is limited but I know a lot of places exist in the directly adjacent new town. Lindos is worth checking out. There’s a nice, albeit busy, sheltered beach and there’s an acropolis to explore. At night it has a nice vibe with lots of rooftop restaurants and the acropolis is lit up. The west coast is wild, windy and unspoilt. It’s dotted with ruined crusader castles and there’s also a mountainous interior. I haven’t done this but day trips to Symi and the Turkish mainland are possible. Enjoy

  18. But what really got me about Johnny Mercer's comments today was that there shouldn't be an investigation. There shouldn't be a trial. There should be no attempt to find the truth of what happened. It's the inference that British soliders are above question and above justice. It's absolutely disgusting. And the fact that Theresa May pretty much agreed that British soldiers are being treated unfairly on their actions 'overseas' says it all. As if this shit happened in some third world country half way across the world and not in part of the UK. We were considered as 'less than' back in the 70s and this continues to this day in much of the Conservative party and British military.

  19. You can hear it starting just in the background both times they score here, especially the second one: https://www.skysports.com/efl/championship/video/11708112/fleetwood-2-1-sunderland

  20. 1. The letters of comfort were sent to 200 men confirming that they weren't under investigation from the police. It was not a blanket amnesty for all terrorists and crimes that had not been prosecuted could still be prosecuted and we have seen such prosecutions continuing. These letters are literally administrative confirmations, not get out of jail free cards. 2. No one is and no one will be prosecuted for genuinely mistaking a civilian for a genuine target. The bar is being held very high for these prosecutions and various enquiries have and will prove that soldiers were shooting at unarmed civilians that they had absolutely no reason to believe were a threat to them. The British security forces in Northern Ireland killed more civilians than actual terrorists. In any job if you get more wrong that you get right then you aren't very good at it. But here you are talking about human lives, including 61 children murdered by the armed forces. The British Army were able to shoot and act with near impunity. If they weren't then ask your mate why only four soliders have been convicted throughout the entire troubles. And why those four soliders were released after just two years of supposed life sentences at which point they were welcomed back into the army. Literally found guilty of murder and then given their old jobs back as if they did nothing wrong.

  21. For me, I think this is enough to confirm that Corbyn probably does believe the Jewish conspiracy bollocks. And marks him as an antisemite. I haven't read the book or anything, but if it is as described here, then its an extremely poor look. I don't even think ignorance would wash as a defence really unless he wrote the foreword without reading any of it. Which is possible but fucking stupid. So he's either immensely incompetent, or antisemitic, or both. Either way he needs to go. He's ruined everything by being completely useless.

  23. Their love for that fat tramp Allerdyce really does mark them out as special fans. I mean, with the possible understandable exception of Bolton, he's been reviled everywhere he has been. But solely because "he relegated us" (I know) they treat him like some demi-God. Bizarre behaviour, they have gotten exactly what they deserve.

  24. Someone once wrote 'Even Hitler feared the Toon Army' on my old workplace bogs. Someone also wrote 'Shakespeare came here to sit and think, I came here to shit and stink'. The latter was signed, 'The people's poet'. Not sure who wrote that one?
