  4. The issue is the European leagues all conform to the same standards with VAR. The final decision stands with the ref who views replays on a pitch side monitor. The Premier League think they are Billy big bollocks and made up their own VAR rules which are shit and don't work

  5. This is the thing Corbyn acolytes don't seem to get. He simply cannot reach across to a broader swathe of the swing-vote population, not because of his portrayal as an 80s mung-bean-eating IRA-supporting leftie, but because he's a dyed-in-the-wool Leaver. If you're a Labour supporter and in any way realistic, you actually want the Lib Dems to be disparaging Corbyn in an attempt to grab soft Tory leaver votes - it won't impact your core vote, who are voting Labour anyway no matter what, and Corbyn cannot ever hope to do the same.

  9. Its definitely VAR thats done it, not total footballing apathy KD is right anyway, VAR at the world cup and in europe is doing fine, the PL (initials a coincidence? I think NOT!) have implemented it in a nonsensical way.

  11. What do you think they have to gain by appearing soft on Labour? If she was making noises about left wing coalitions and so on, the Tories would immediately state that a vote for LD is a vote for Corbyn, and all the soft Tory voters would be scared off. As far as I'm concerned she can attack Corbyn as much as she wants. I don't think it will harm the left wing vote for him, the centrists who would vote for him won't be affected as they'll presumably vote for the strongest remain candidate in their region come what may, and it improves her chances with right wing remainers who would otherwise not be able to be part of a remain coalition. It's true that this will almost certainly result in a minority government for Labour if they do win, but that's a price I'm willing to pay, even if Swinson spends the next 5 years blocking everything Labour try to do except Brexit.

  13. It's just impossible that this could be the case. What do they do about Brexit in a coalition exactly? Ignoring the fact that, if they did this, they would once again spurn all of the gains they've made in voters by being a soft left option. I refuse to believe that the LDs are so myopic that they could be unaware that coalition with the Tories would utterly ruin them, a mere 5 years after the last time they tried it utterly ruined them. They're going for Tory voters. As they should be.

  14. VAR: brought in to help refs but has actually made them worse. I was against it in principle and wondered how such a faff would work in practice. I notice as it's got worse this season @Andrew has been on here less and less....."quelle fuckin surprise" as they say roond oor wey...

  16. The America's by Simon Reeve has been brilliant. I can see the reflection in our own country in some of it though which is depressing. Simon Reeve says with a shock how infrastructure isn't a high priority for the government in the US. It's the same over here so not sure why he's shocked.

  17. England were absolutely thrashed and had nothing to come back with, when it did not go how they wanted it to go. This is not the first time that they have been unable to refocus when things are going against them. SA definitely deserved to win and irrespective of the political bandwagon which has come out of it, were simply much better on the day. Perhaps Gatland was right when he said that England had played their final against NZ. Jones may want to take back his ridicule now. Of course, now England lost, we can blame the Aussie coach - where is Ken when we don't need him?

  22. Walked past a bloke in town with a MAGA hat on. Obviously absolutely nothing going on behind his eyes, so the hat just served as a nice exclamation mark for his retardation. He'd put little St George's cross pins either side of the MAGA text btw. Beautiful.

  24. I went to the local Chinese takeaway last night and asked for my usual: Chicken chow mein, salt and pepper chips and a bag of prawn crackers. When it was all ready, the bloke behind the counter tipped it all out into a plastic carrier bag. “Woah, what the fucking hell are you playing at?” I shouted before he told me that they’re not allowed to put Chinese in containers anymore. Sorry
