Mixed. Found a lump on my ribs (got a scan this weekend), think I might have flu too. I’ve been rough as fuck for a couple of days but none of the stated corona symptoms. House is upside down from all the work, still waiting on planning permission to do the major work because it’s a conservation area and planning departments are shitholes full of jobsworths. On the flip side my old man has finished his cancer treatment and it’s looking positive so far, and I’ve been offered a director level role within a different part of the group I currently work for. Less stress, more interesting work and more money. Look after yourselves8 points

Thanks for lifting the mood. Ok it looks like avoid social media AND mute Dr Gloom's posts might be the way forward now.1 point

It comes in waves for me. My anxiety from covid has been replaced by more immediate concerns, although its made practical issues much harder. Then the added day to day stresses (work, my roof is leaking, money, kids etc) and its easy to see how you could have a breakdown. Ive had one before and never want to go back there, plus I'm needed more than ever. I don't use social media other than here, and here helps.1 point

1: Who did you tell? 2: What did you tell them? 3: Why wouldn’t they ( whoever they are), have it ( whatever it is)? 4: You know what happens when you don’t take your tablets.1 point

Well I’ve just bought running shoes if you need a smile Seriously, this year has effected a lot of people mentally in a lot of ways whether it’s the isolation, worrying about money, health, kids, work etc etc. You are both definitley not alone. My advice is try and not to worry about the news / stuff you can not do anything about and get up tomorrow and just give one of the charity’s a ring and get some stuff off your chest. All the best to the both of you.1 point

I get you, I've been all over the place mentally throughout this whole year to be honest, and like you, in a way it's never been like before (though thinking back, it was brewing before COVID so I can't blame it entirely on that - the state of the world has massively exacerbated it though). Probably should go (well, "go") and see someone about it at some point, but never having done so before, kickstarting that whole thing just feels like a right faff under the current circumstances, I dunno. I've even deleted this post then rewritten it a couple of times due to anxiety over whether saying all of this out loud is too much like making your post all about me. Go figure.1 point

Btw this government is never gonna get test and trace sorted. They are too busy lying about the present and making undeliverable promises for the future. There isn't the will there to fix it - why bother when you can lie and say it's sorted? They've been doing it for the last 6 months, they aren't gonna get this fixed before there's a vaccine.1 point

The cost of what you're suggesting and the consequent delay of those kids and the ones coming behind them being delayed from entering the workforce for a year plus having a fallow year at universities is estimated at £5.6 trillion pounds over the first ten years. Your missus' life simply isn't worth that much.1 point

I think the sooner kids learn the crushing, disappointing realities of life, the better. This has been an ideal education in that regard.1 point

You just repeat the school year for everyone. That's the answer. Which do you think is preferable, muddle through the current year with constant stops and starts and bunches of kids off for 2 weeks at a time self-isolating, entire year groups having to take time away from school, those of exam age particularly disrupted.....or call the whole thing off, protect pupils, teachers and their families that they'll take the virus home to, and repeat the school year for everyone next year. It is totally bogus to claim that kids and teachers can go to school, mix with other kids/teachers, and go home to their families, and we just don't need to worry about spread of the virus from that. That's how you do it. This current situation is so sub-optimal that you're leaving kids behind anyway but pretending that you aren't. It's mostly just you parents don't want your kids at home. You had the little cunts.1 point

I'm surprised he get on metro radio, tbh. Thought the Tyne & Wear satellite TV channel might have been his only bet?1 point

That Storey freak has done some completely unrevealing interviews for metro radio (metro radio ffs ). Caught a bit of one where he was banging on about how different he is from most football club owners. Apparently that’s because he’s doing it because he loves football although I couldn’t help thinking the main difference is other football club owners actually own football clubs1 point

About halfway through the lockdown I started squeezing pillows and our winter walking jackets. I’ve been feeling down ever since.1 point
