  2. Spot on, they’ve been wanking themselves silly over Real Madrid winning CL after CL with their fucking super team, the wages of Bale, Benzema, and Ronaldo alone would have been eye watering let alone the rest of their team. We’ve had years of Italian sides dominating Europe, years of Spanish sides, what’s the difference if it’s a few years of Premier League dominance? This constant outrage that football was this totally equal game and has now been ruined is laughable, just like the whinging about Man City winning a few titles in a row conveniently ignores the fucking dominance of Manchester United and how they drained the best talents from all other PL sides for yonks. For a long time Barca and Real Madrid enjoyed massive financial advantage over the PL sides since they hoovered up the lions share of TV rights while the PL sides had more of an even split - again something conveniently ignored now the PL sides are getting similar TV revenue despite the more even split across the league.

  5. Aye everyone talks about Ferguson's 13 titles with complete reverence. Man City win a few and the game needs ripped up and starting all over again.

  11. I've been supporting for seven decades and this might well be the best season I've experienced. I wouldn't swap it for anything

  12. Yes, I can imagine Levy and the scouse cunts seething that their attempts to hold us back have been superceded on the pitch and even better at their clubs' expense.

  13. I get what you’re saying but this immediate CL qualification will have thrown the club so far forward from a commercial POV, that we’ll be able to skip that anyway because we’ll be able to immediately attract better prospects to round the squad out than we would if not for the qualification.

  14. Oh that's because Manchester United did it organically. Y'know, aside from buying the best players in the league from their rivals like Berbatov, Cantona, Carrick, Cole, Ferdinand, Keane, Lukaku, Maguire, Mata, Rooney, Sheringham, van Persie, Yorke... Or spending inordinate sums of money on foreign stars like Di Maria €75m, Pogba €105m, Sancho €85m, van Nistelrooy €28.5m, Veron €42m. Since the PL began, they've spent over €15m on a player 50 times, spending as an average €40.2m

  15. I think it’s important they realise this. Because they might get a landslide by default because the Tories have fucked up literally everything they’ve touched and made everyone worse off. But if Labour don’t reverse that and take the steps necessary they might be lucky to get two terms. Certainly no more given the way the right wing press will go after then if they smell blood. I disagreed with Rayvin recently over the inference many on here were happy for them to get power by any means. And that’s because there’s a massive difference between discussions about reversing Brexit (fully or partially) being off the table and actively bringing up Brexit and promising you’ll never consider FOM, the CU, SM and so on. I regard the former as depressingly necessary pragmatism and the latter as sheer lunacy.

  19. I told you lot that should be a parody site. Also unsure how well it fits in with their stated editorial aim of “promoting the city’s image and profile on the world stage.” Unless they’re agent provocateurs installed by the magedia

  20. I still reckon the McTominay links could be his agent eyeing what would probably be his one big career move. Like I’ve said before you can be ITK but you might be hearing direct from an associate of the player, that Howe wants him, rather than Howe or someone close to Howe.

  21. Lavia off Southampton would be a better shout than McTominay. A 19 year old with ridiculous potential.

  25. Feels like this season isn't getting the credit it deserves. 19 wins is the most in the top flight since 2011/12 14 draws is the most in the top flight since 2004/05 5 losses is the fewest in the top flight, ever. Only beaten by our Championship season under Hughton in 09/10 68 goals for is the most scored since 2001/02 33 goals against is the fewest goals conceded since 1904/05, when we won the league. +35 is our best Goal difference in the top flight since 1926/27, when we won the league. 71pts is our biggest points return in the top flight since 2001/02. The difference between our pts total last season vs this is huge, 22pts! No team made a bigger improvement. Since we were promoted our ability to create and prevent chances had been pretty poor but look at it now, and we're back to conceding less and scoring more than the league average too; (dashed line is league average.

  27. Aye McAllister was class for them and generally underrated. The other thing is those were the very early days of a second substitute and it was much less of a squad game them. Didn’t Leeds win the league the season after they were promoted too?
    2 points
  28. Yeah, he went to Sheff Utd where Dave Basset had ended up . He’s still loved at Leeds, tbf I think that 1990 promotion side all are. He was replaced by Gary Macallister though, not sure why he was too put out by that tbh. But I suppose that sort of humility wouldn’t have got him into Hollywood?

  29. Foakes has got to be the unluckiest cricketer in recent history. He should have double the number of caps. And yet still the fraud Crawley keeps being selected. I’d sooner Bairstow opened and Foakes kept wicket

  30. After Real Madrid and Barcelona have been taking the piss with their wages for decades, this is rank protectionism. Won't our tax rates mean that it's harder for us to offer similar net wages than it is in more loosey goosey countries?

  31. Exactly, take nothing away from Pep, he's obviously a brilliant manager, but much of the work done in getting that team to the level they are was done last season and prior. Then this season they've added a superhuman goal scoring machine and have achieved at their expected level. Arteta, much of the groundwork was done prior to this season but there was a noted improvement from last season to this, so he's a valid contender. I think for a manager of the season you need to look at the progression the side has made from the previous season to this. Emery has done fantastically well at Villa so again a very strong contender, if he was there all season and they returned like they did during his 20 games then he should have got it. De Zerbi is dezerbing too, but the numbers don't lie, Eddie Howe should have been manager of the season. There'a no way he will be able to get it next season now, short of winning the league which is just not realistic in such a short time frame, finishing in the top four again for next season would again be a brilliant result and that won't put him in contention for it, as they'll make out it's not a big achievement despite our wages being mid table. They may as well just default to giving it to the manager of the team that wins based off this decision. Man City didn't pull Arsenal back in through any great tactical changes, it was a case of Arsenal stumbling and dropping points that they were winning at the start of the season. For me, Pep winning Manager of the Season is a cop out. If they were undefeated for the season then sure, you'd have a case for giving it to him, but when you're clear favourite in EVERY SINGLE GAME YOU PLAY* winning the league really is not that impressive against a number of other managers who have their squads punching well above their weights. * - Including the legal game against all comers; FIFA, UEFA, FA etc.

  34. Dunno if winning the PL with an expensively assembled side, that you've worked with for years and added a freak of nature to, is really worthy? Forget about Howe for a second, De Zerbi, Emery, O'Neill, and Arteta all deserve huge credit for the way they've guided their less expensively assembled squads, that they haven't worked with for long, without a goal scoring phenom up top.
