  1. I can't understand that too. It must fuck them off if they're leading, it starts raining and it's basically like "right fuck it just caal it a draa". It happened in the last ashes, surely run rate would be fairer in that instance. Reading the weather though is a big part of tactics. For example in the last test match we could have batted on for another day or two, but instead read the weather forecast, declared earlier and bowled India out in less time than we thought we would have had. Aye but even so say you got 700 all out first innings they get 300 then 2nd innings you get 500 all out, they need 900 to win they're on 90/7 and it starts fucking raining, I bet there have been less extreme instances of that that have bordered on a disgrace though. Spoken like someone who doesn't understand the sport, Stevie. So much wrong with that 'example' in terms of timing of declarations/time needed to bowl people out etc!

  3. Aye. Also my dislike of it was partly due early doors, due to the fact I was absolutely fuckin shite at it. It's like people who are shite at football are more inclined to dislike it. Me though, couldn't field, couldn't catch, couldn't bowl, couldn't bat. I was shite. I don't know what skill goes in to it though, apart from spin bowlers. It's just about timing with the bat. You will never see someone in cricket do anything as remarkable as Maradona v England for example.
  4. Brilliant vid for anyone who ever played BLC
  5. It's an unbelievable sport. I think people tend to knock it, for the majority of the time, because they don't understand it. There's a hell of a lot of variables that go into a cricket match, which is what makes it so interesting. For example, simply being overcast for a couple of hours, of having a small patch of grass appear can change the whole complexion of a match. There's a hell of a lot more skill needed than for football too. I enjoy T20 and ODI's (Jonny i'll be there next week), but they're not a patch on Test Match Cricket, which is the real beauty of the sport. It's great that you can play for 5 days, 8 hours a day and it finish in a draw. Can't wait for my trip to Sydney for the 13/14 Ashes. Will be the trip of a lifetime.
  6. gooooooooood lad!!! Congratulations kidda. Canny signing her mind! I'll buy you a drink if I see you out on Sunday. It was signing for the peskies that turned it round lets be fair. She's alright for an OOT like
  7. Well, this thread is a good example of how you can turn your life around. The mess I was in after this seems a lifetime ago. About 18 months after this thread was made I met a lovely lady called Jenny and i'm delighted to say that on Monday night she agreed to marry me
  8. Presume there'll be a pub or two serving early doors? Garter usually opens up at 7ish.
  9. You can have mine for £1000 Oh wait, you can't.

  12. Well good spirits apart from that small lad you had up top who thought it was ok to try and tackle me when I had the ball in my hands.
  13. That was some strike like. May have been from some way out like but it was travelling like a fucking arrow. Hats off to the lad but no way was it a shot, just a clearance that caught me off my guard. Really good game like, played in good spirits I thought. Oh, and I scored the winner....
  14. We allowed studs on this surface or is it trainers/mouldies?
  15. As if it's been 3 and a half years man
  16. Dennis Rommedahl was one of the quickest players ive ever seen but was shit is another one. Looking back now at the Bobby team, for me one of the standout players who used their pace well was Dyer. When he was in the middle with Speed we were a different team.

  20. Haven't been able? There's a difference between being able to do something and doing it. Looking at your current plight, would you say that you were 'able' to do those things? 'plight' We've just scored the 2nd most home goals in the league with Peter Lovenkrands and Shola up top.
