  1. The Boxing thread

About time it had its own thread. Any how, ITV4 tonight 8:30pm Carl Froch Vs Jermain Taylor Cracking fight treat yourselves. How this fight didn't get a UK station to pick it up live is quite disgusting, we get subjected to Amir Khan fighting nobodies but when an English World champion taking on the former undisputed Middleweight champion in the USA, it doesn't get a live showing.
  2. Alexander What a train wreck that movie was, since when was Alexander the great an Irishman ? I'm not just talking about Colin Farrel, nearly every speaking member of the cast spoke with an Irish brogue, ok I'm sure they didn't speak with an English royal shakespear company accent either but come on ! As for the rest of the movie, it just lacked an epic feel of other great "sword and sandal" movies such as Gladiator, it was a massive disapointment for me.
  3. Personally I thought he had a shocker today, another lazy performance, no commitment, little tracking back, in fact I hardly noticed he was there !
  4. Borderline Boilers

Inspired by the Viz campaign of the same name and by the "Sharon Watts" thread. This is the competion that ranks ladies in the public eye whom you wouldn't generally consider as a legitimate sexual partner on account of some physical or psychological flaw, however as long as you mates don't find out, its OK. I'll start things off with.
  5. Alan Shearer is expected to discover today if he is to become the permanent manager of Newcastle United. Shearer spent several hours on Tuesday negotiating with Newcastle's owner, Mike Ashley, and it is understood Shearer and his assistants Iain Dowie and Paul Ferris presented Ashley with a convincing plan as to how they will cope with relegation from the Premier League and mount a promotion campaign. Ashley was not on Tyneside as talks continued on Wednesday and all parties were awaiting a response yesterday. There is some optimism locally that Ashley will agree to Shearer's vision. Shearer has said that he wishes to place a £15m transfer fee on centre-half Sébastien Bassong in the hope it deters suitors, or funds a new defence. Should Bassong stay then, with Steve Harper, Habib Beye and Steven Taylor pledging their commitment for next season, Shearer's Newcastle would have an experienced defensive base. Reports in Italy yesterday linked Obafemi Martins with a move to Fiorentina. A fee of £8m was mentioned.
  6. Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been arrested on suspicion of rape. The 20-year-old Portuguese international winger is being questioned by Metropolitan Police officers. Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said the offence is alleged to have been committed at the Sanderson Hotel in London on October 2. Ronaldo is thought to have been staying at the hotel after playing against Fulham. Mr Brunt said the complainant says she met the youngster in a West End nightclub The player had attended a police station near his Cheshire home, where it is believed he is still being interviewed. Ronaldo signed for United in August 2003 from Sporting Lisbon in a £12.24m deal. He was named the Sir Matt Busby Player Of The Year at the end of his first season. The Madeira-born player scored in United's FA Cup final win over Millwall and was a success during Euro 2004. More follows... http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,3000...7,00.html?f=dta

  12. US election 2016

If Clinton and Trump made a pact 5 years ago where they would both run for office to destabilize the GOP to breaking point and guarantee Clinton the keys to the White House, would it really be any different two what we are seeing now? and could it have possibly worked any better?
  13. Star Trek Beyond. Too much of a comic-book caper, they are too heavy on action, the original movies were a little more cerebral, now its just whizz-bang no-brainer action, after the great first movie, I'm tired of this reboot franchise.
  14. What are you reading?

I got Touching Distance by Martin Hardy today on Kindle, I'll read it when I'm in a nostalgic mood.

  18. The Boxing thread

He's a very ordinary heavyweight in a very poor era, he's not great, he's just currently the tallest midget in the circus.
