I've searched the house high and low for my copy, can't find it anywhere. Anyone got an idea where I might be able to obtain it, by any means? I'm absolutely gutted! Also if there's anywhere that's done updates (limited again by the fact I'm looking for the mac version) I wouldn't mind checking it out.

Big Sur is the sort of follow-up (10 years on) when fame and cynicism have hit home. The Dharma Bums is excellent too. Good stuff, I'll look into getting them. Like yourself I've got a mountain of books in my 'to read' pile at the moment, and I'm a pretty slow reader! You had a chance to look at Kite Runner yet btw?

On the Road. As others have said in this thread, it's brilliant.

The appointment already seems to have invigorated the fan base. On last night's showing, it might seem even the players are excited. This might be the worst appointment ever, but it just might well be the best. It's a while since I was this excited about football.

What are the Beeb going to give us by way of highlights? Is there going to be an extra MOTD or will we just get the goals after the Citeh-Wham game?

Where did I come in your most missed poster? I see I got a few nominations. When I read the candidates for MMP, it read like a who's who of the good posters on NO, with one or two notable exceptions. You need a "Thompers", or even a "Vic" (cockney cunt), to liven it up. "Yeah your right well said " seems to be the norm now, that's how I found it during my little gate crash. Have to say I was under the impression that Nolan had had one good season rather than one shite one, and was very poor last year as well. I know there are a fair few Bolton fans who don't rate him anyway. As for the Smith/Dyer angle, whilst I'd much rather have a player with Smith's character (although it won't do him much good in the next two games...) we really could have done with Dyer's pace and goals this season. Didn't he get 7 last year? It's not a huge tally, but would have helped.

I'm sure he said whats the point in him harming his club career for sitting on the bench. What's the point in anyone doing it then? So anyone who isn't going to start but makes the squad should retire as it's a waste of time. Fucking hell, we'll have Jenas retiring from internationals soon!

Also, another point that should be noted is that Scholes and Shearer retired to prolong their club careers. Carragher's doing it because he's a sulky little twat who gets upset when he doesn't get to play where he wants.

I hadn't even noticed Carragher had retired from Internationals until we got a few injuries. Almost, but not quite, as significant as when Andy Cole made the same career move.

If we're getting £7m+ for Dyer I'd stick a bid in of around £11m for Arteta straight away.
