You're scouse and work for wykiki? This is a turn of events.

I'm also applying for a new job but this new edict in the public sector of working in the office 2 days a week might scupper that.

What about that stadium the Qataris used made of shipping containers that could be taken down and easily rebuilt elsewhere?

Maybe that's what they're really building in front of the metro station?

I all seriousness, just building that stack seems far from trivial to me.

The other option is to build a whole new stadium at the back end of the park and then incorporate the old SJP footprint into a new Leazes Park. Would be a nicer view for Leazes Terrace!

This gets my vote like. It would actually draw the park closer to the town and up and coming areas like the Helix. Any further out than that though, such as Castle Leazes or Hunters moor/town moor, you're not really in the city centre any more, it would massively impact on residents, and there would be major transport issues.

It’s grade II listed and there aren’t many parks outside London that are iirc. Leazes Terrace is grade I listed so that isn’t getting touched. So although it’s not Grade I listed, being a park and the rarity of that makes it less straightforward than if it was a grade II listed building. But I think you have a point with Leazes Park that could work in favour of the club. I think they would only have to slightly encroach on it by expanding the Leazes End. I would come at it from the approach of, if they were allowed to do that, restoring the rest of it to its former glory. And making it a green space people could use and is well maintained etc. You’re right about it being in proper poor condition

Leazes park is run down but is one of the only green areas in the city centre. Also not sure what J69 thinks Saltwell Park has to do with it? Really that highlights Newcastle's deficits.

Surely though this grading could be overcome if the current footprint of SJP was preserved as a landscaped pocket park, wrapped around to the remaing park and if necessary landscaping Hunter's moor. In fact this would arguably promote Leazes terrace as it could open up onto the park front and back. Things change, but if its undeniably for the better, why not?

The main issue with that option, besides cost, would be where to play in the 1 or more likely 2 seasons it would take to develop. Just can't see an answer to that. A mackem gorund share would be the most logical but football rivalry isn't logical.

  5. Sunak doesn't give a shit and has nowt to lose. He'll try to last 2 years for pure vanity reasons rather than what is good for his country or even his party. The May local and mayoral elections could scupper that though if they are abysmal, and I think they will be. Take the Teeside Mayoral election, which Houchen - a firm supporter of Sunak - won with 73% last time. The latest poll has him on 19%. Similar story for Andy Street in Birmingham who has distanced himself as much as he can from Sunak and the parliamentary party, to no avail.

Whilst its a bit of a laugh, should we fucking have our parties be doing this sort of shit on social media?

It's nowt compared with what the Tories do, very mild and underlines a valid point nobody should forget. The grammar police will not be happy however....

  7. All I can recall about Metro is Alan Robson's "hot and heavy" as well as countless "specials" about ghosts, Mr Rahman's zips and, well that's it. Thought it finished 2 decades ago tbh.

Maintaining heft means struggling to lose weight where I come from like.

Am fucking great at it. Reduced my calorie intake by 500 calories, religiously doing 10,000 steps every day with at least 500 foot ascent, and I've still managed to maintain my bastard heft after 2 weeks.

She's just a global embarrassment. No one sane in her party wants anything to do with her, she bores the fuck out of the yanks.

She's uniquely ill equipped for what she's actually trying to do. I guess we just all enjoy the endless tailspin.

Tempted to read the book for the humour factor tbh. She's a real life Partridge..

  10.

I've joined up. Nothing could convince me more that power lies in the hands of some unelected bureacrats than an unelected ex-prime minister who is currently kow-towing to the extreme right wing in this country and beyond, including the likes of Steve Bannon and by association Tommy Robinson.

It's incredible Sunak lets her get away with this.

Aside from all the other obvious cuntishness, the stubbornness they’re showing over this Rwanda shit is just staggering.

It’s been clearly shown to be ridiculously more expensive than other options, nobody but them wants it, the Lords have tossed it out multiple times, it’s illegal, and yet, even though they all know they’re going to get comprehensively destroyed in the GE, and this will disappear down the toilet with other great Tory ideas, they are still pressing on with it.

I’ll be absolutely amazed if they actually send a single person there before they get kicked out.

Even if they do, it will only harm them. Say it happens as planned now in June. Very easy for Labour to attack it based on expense. It obviously has zero deterrence value. When's the weather most settled and when will the most small boats cross? The scheme is a disaster for them imo.
