Thats what caught my attention, clever name. I think they are up to SBGS 5, they're making one with MMM Glugg from the Granger market that has chipotle chilli's in there. Granger market is a canny place to just have a wander about now, so different from when I was a kid. Criminally under promoted.

Aye I haven't been in there much of late but it is good. Used to pop in MMM...Deli and also went just after they'd opened Glugg. That coffee place in there is nice too. I hope it still has the imaginatively named Cheap Tab Shop in there though. Also remember the second hand book shop which sold multi packs of used porn mags. Nice

I've dabbled with craft stuff, enjoy an IPA but have found myself drifting towards stouts and porters. Flash House do a line called Shy Bairns Get Stout and I've really enjoyed the coffee one.

Saw that in the Town Wall the other week. Good name like :D

Never understood Sinatra on the subject like, I'd probably change something every other day of my life.

If I thought about it seriously I don't really know, because of the way things have turned out I don't really have many regrets. I wish I'd been nicer to some people. Not that I was really horrible to anyone or did anything particularly bad but I would have handled some things a bit differently I suppose so as not to have hurt the feelings of people who didn't deserve it.

  4. There's gin bars distilling their own stuff sprung up in Newcastle. I do quite like it but a bottle of decent gin would last me months as it's not something I would drink unless I'm in the mood. A decent bottle of rum or whisky is lucky to last a weekend sometimes.

  5. Schiehallion's a good one. A 'craft lager' as they put it. Sits somewhere between a normal quality pilsner and an IPA (not as heavily hopped). Must admit I very raely drink beer unless I'm out and I don't go out very often.

Was roundly dissed for ordering Camden products as they have sold out apparently. :o

Ridiculous snobbery that though, don't you think? Unless it tastes different now

  7. Think the 'craft beer' revolution has been generally good but the trouble is you'll go in a lot of places now and they have about 8 beers on tap and 7 are a variant of IPA.

I like gin but I don't quite get it with the recent huge amount of craft producers because it either tastes very similar to mass produced 'quality gins' like Tanqueray Ten or they go down the route of adding unusal botanicals / spices with the result that it doesn't even taste like gin.

Rum is a really interesting spirit and should probably be treated the same way as cognac and whisky. The trouble with it is both a lack of understanding and regulation because it's produced in so many different countries. A lot of it is basically a total rip off with stuff like Pyrat and lots of the South American stuff being marketed as 'super premium' when in fact it's a fairly basic product in those cases which has had loads of sugar added (and orange flavouring with Pyrat).

...and had about 20 MCs fighting over the mic, never letting the music breathe.

Think I've mentioned it before but I was at a Helter Skelter where they had a minute's silence for Stevie Hyper D. People literally didn't know what to do with themselves. My mate then got a mix tape pack which had the very same minute's silence on it. Same tape pack had the MC trying to do an announcement something along the lines of "If anybody has ever had a mate called John, can they come to the stage now"

Atomic Jam at the Q club was a class night.

Yep. Used to regularly go down for the Final Frontier at Club UK in Wandsworth around that time too (the Universe lot who did Tribal Gathering were behind it). 3 big rooms of quality techno. There was some fantastic stuff being produced at the time, a lot of it from the UK.

The rex is by far the most sketchy venue I ever went to. Used to love and hate nights there as there was always an atmosphere that it could kick off at any minute. Loads of Hackett/Burberry clad charvers. The walk to the tube station with the sun coming up was always eye opening.

Helter Skelter was the funniest events I went to for spotting the charvs. The Happy Hardcore element used to drag them in from all over. Loads of Sweaties in Celtic / Rangers gear for example. If you think of a massive rave crossed with the Hoppings you're probably not too far off.

Seen jeff mills at bloated, was good. Daft punk at mayfair was my best memory gig.

Saw the latter at Tribal Gathering.

edit: Would've been just after Homework came out. They were class. Dave Angel was on just prior to them and it was before his shit 'techno funk' / hard house phase. He was absolutely brilliant.
