The sad truth is that their sole ambition in “taking the moral high ground” is to delegitimise any success we have, so they don’t fall behind in their imaginary competition with us. If we’d been bought by the Chinese they’d suddenly be experts on the repression of the Uyghurs and Tibet, having previously shown fuck all interest in them. If they didn’t see everything through incredibly bitter, jealous and parochial eyes, they wouldn’t say a single word against the Saudi government, because they’re racist and ignorant as fuck and don’t actually give a shit about any of it. It only matters because its us, how sad. I’d bet your average mackem couldn’t point to Saudi Arabia or the Yemen on a world atlas if their life depended on it.
