Considering England U21s are largely made up of Premier League regulars, I’m sure Sunderland’s lads aren’t there simply because they would show the others all up

and need to be straight into Southgate’s team

It's plainly a conspiracy to keep their trail blazers out of the national team.  I suspect its that shadowy cartel of tyneside businessmen again...

Hahaha, guilty as charged I’m afraid.

In my defence, it’s only a 10 minute walk and I like going to matches, regardless of who is playing.

However, I can confirm that a) Chelsea fans are irredeemable cunts, b) Stamford Bridge has zero atmosphere (even less than The Emirates) and c) Trevoh Chalobah is gash.

I think I'd prefer to go to Craven Cottage tbh. I realise it probably isnt a 10 minute walk away though.

  3. Just apropos of nothing, atm our signings seem to come out of the blue and the players we are supposed to be in for invariably go somewhere else.

I had never heard of Tonali and didnt see anything to link us with him until his agent confirmed he was about to sign.

    Which makes me think

    1. All the ITKs/media wittering on about our supposed targets/enquiries/offers are just speculating and dont really have a clue

    2. A transfer is going to be pretty much done and dusted before we hear a whisper about it

    3.  The more we're heavily linked with a player in the media (Maddison, Szoboszlai etc) the less likely it is we're actually in for them

The club seems very tight on security of info these days, not only targets and negotations but also transfer budget, wages etc.

This leads me to conclude that any intel thats in the wind about "preparing a bid" is crapola, probably put about by the player's agent to put pressure on another club's negotations.

Romano is saying that Liverpool are in for Lavia and he's on the list along with Thuram. Surely it would one of the other. Having said that Lavia and Thuram are very different players. Thuram is much more box to box and Lavia is a more traditional six. But I say one or the other because you'd assume Liverpool won't be spunking that much money on their midfield. If they do and Klopp ever complains about being poor again he should be shot. If they add either Lavia or Thuram to their midfield along with Mac Allister and Szoboszlai that would be roughly 160m, and they are reportedly after at least one defender as well.

Thuram has gone to Inter according to the Beeb

It also impresses me on how we are going about things. Trying to sign the best young players globally within our budget, working hard scouting, and finding these youngsters.

Whereas the Mags have lost their club. They are a middle eastern franchise now. They don’t care who dies or what rules the can twist, break or manipulate to get a certain player. Utterly grotesque. The perfect club and fan base for that ownership."

Red and White and Spread Allawa.

The definitive and final say, marra.

Sunderland Association Football Club, SAFC, was founded in 1879 in the North-East of England. Since then, the club has brought immense pride to its supporters, and its colors, red and white stripes, have become synonymous with the club.

However, these stripes have now come to be associated with so much more than just the club. One of the first examples of this can be seen in the football world. It is said that when SAFC first started out, the club faced a shortage of funds to purchase football shirts. As a result, the team decided to create their own shirts, using the colors of the Sunderland Cricket Club - red and white stripes. This unique design caught the attention of football fans around the world and became an instant hit.

Soon, other football clubs around the world began to incorporate red and white stripes into their own kit designs. Vying to emulate the success of SAFC, football clubs such as Southampton FC, Sheffield United FC, and Queens Park Rangers FC all adopted their own variations of the coveted red and white stripes.

In the world of sport, it wasn't just other football clubs who began to take inspiration from the stripes of SAFC. Several hockey teams began to adopt red and white stripes on their uniforms, including the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks. Rugby teams such as the Coventry RFC also looked to the stripes for inspiration, adorning their jerseys with red and white diagonal stripes.

The popularity of the stripes even transcended sports and began to appear in other unexpected places. Barber shops began to adopt the colors of SAFC into their branding, sporting red and white striped barber poles outside their doors. The stripes came to represent trust, cleanliness and cutting-edge skills amongst the barber communities.

The fashion industry too was not immune to the trend. Iconic fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, known for his red, white and blue stripes, drew inspiration from the stripes of SAFC. His apparel collection included red and white striped t-shirts, polo shirts, and even tailored suits.

But beyond the world of sports and fashion, red and white stripes became associated with the popular candy, rock candy. The candy, which originated in the early 19th century, was made using a red and white striped design. The association with SAFC came from a story that the original candy maker was a passionate Sunderland fan, earlier in the history of the club.

The stripes of SAFC even made their way into art. The famous pop artist, Andy Warhol, created a unique print featuring the red and white stripes, titled "Sunderland Stripes". The image was a reflection of the strong influence SAFC had on the culture and aesthetic of the northeast of England.

The animal kingdom was also not immune to the frenzy for emulating the legendary stripes. Several species of fish, including the bottom feeding Fewmungous Blupopious, altered their DNA so they could sport red and white, even though it made them significantly more vulnerable to predation and, in fact, is sadly cited as their reason for extinction.

In conclusion, SAFC's red and white stripes have come to symbolize more than just a football club. The stripes have influenced an array of industries from fashion, to candy, barbering, art and even life itself. They continue to be a source of inspiration for sports teams and fans alike, and prove that the power of a unique design can be truly far-reaching.

Amazing. I bet that's the work of a highly respected local historian

  8. I think the Trump legal playbook will be to  delay the trial by a couple of years, get re-elected as president and then force the DoJ to drop the charges or simply pardon himself.

His backup plan will be to foment a coup attempt amongst redneck followers if he fails to get the GOP nomination or get re elected.

Either way he is not going to respect the rule of law and will do anything to stay out of prison. In a sane world the GOP would conclude he is unfit to stand and jettison him. However this is America....

Incidentally, regardless of all the whataboutism on this, I don't understand why Republicans aren't deeply concerned about why Trump had these files. He obviously intended to use them for personal gain, and that alone should disqualify him immediately from standing for public office. There can be no good reason why he would take such highly sensitive material and then deliberately hide it and lie about having it.

I'd say the same about any politician of any political hue, it's a basic question of trust. Trump is plainly untrustworthy in any shape or form, it was obvious and apparent a long time ago and this just triple underlines it.

 None of it bothers them but at the same time every post explains that the Saudis will stop spending money on NUFC. They’ve done this since the take over happened . I honestly think they think more about our ownership than most toon fans.

Yes, their fantasy lives are so much better than real life. As long as you don't let the glue wear off...

A quick browse and I assumed from the title this would be from some crappy Sports news website or something, but no, it's the mackem's proclaiming themselves as the most passionate fans and for the most part the lower league fodder they've been forced to play filling in several places in the top 10. I mean, this list does seem to be a bit arbitrary to me and prone to bias perhaps .

If we want to be objective, it would be interesting to compare and contrast home and away form. Pretty sure Sunderland's home form is toxic, with the stadium half empty, litter literally blowing around the pitch, regular fights amonst themselves, people leaving early and other people chastising people for leaving early, absolute shite flammable flag displays, shitting in pink seats etc. Not sure they should be number one tbh.

It's such a subjective and arbitrary idea that it's pointless to debate it. Nice to see they won something this season though.
