Maybe he'll be good alongside an out and out goal scorer. If only we had one on the pitch.
It strikes me that we might have quite a few players who arn't too happy to be playing for NUFC (this is just speculation), Given - Wants silverware, Boumsong - wants to be with his family, Carr - Wants to get away from Souness, Emre - I'm sure he thinks he made a mistake coming here and the state of his general fitness, Luque - See Emre, Owen - Just wants match practice before the WC & can't believe he's swapped the football of Real Madrid for this what he's endured while here.
All this 'Team Spirit' sh*te, i don't believe it. The names above are a decent set of players, i'm making that judgement based on their performances for other clubs, not NUFC (except Given) and yet they spectacularly have failed to amount to even half of the sum of their parts, why?
-
He may well have a more mercenary attitude than Luque but he has the advantage of not being foreign/black and therefore free from such character traits.
-
It's so desperate at the mo' i'd even settle for George Graham or Very Terribles until the summer.
At least they have some sense of organisation and GG would sort out the back 4 double quick.

Hi Everyone, i'm back from the xmas break (don't have internet at home).
Saw the highlights of the match last night, couldn't judge anyone on that, those who went to the ground would know better.
Except: Boumsong and Bramble who are actually getting worse. I think we have big porblems with all the back 4 and their cover. Moore has disappeared, Taylor's out for ages, Baba's not performing, Elliot is crap, Carr has fallen out with Souness, i don't Ramage will make it as a Prem player - far too ordinary. That's 8 defenders who arn't doing the the do.
Emre - frequently absent.
Parker - Tackles a lot, doesn't create anything, i agree with that NO article, i'm sure he'd rather play football.
Owen - Major absenteeism, maybe this is what happens if you go into 50-50 challenges with a GK?
Solano - Shy of white lines
Luque - Not a replacement for Robert it seems (who can't make it at Portsmouth), if we sell him we're left with Shearer (now that Ameobi's injured but couldn't score anyway) up front with an occasional appearence from Chopra! Can we afford to let Luque go? Who are we gonna replace him with? Another unproven striker like Ashton or Nihat? What's the point, might as well see him through to the summer and see how things develop. He might do well or he might be just ok but might click better with whatever striker we bring in over the summer (assuming Shearer doesn't stay on).
What i've seen of Luque so far, he hasn't offered much. I'll wait until i've seen him play a fair few games before i make a decision on him though.
Thinking about it now, Souness 'Great Signings' don't seem so special do they?
And i forgot about Faye!

See the Souness article saying we're going 'Back to Basics' after the Arsenal win?
Made me laugh, i wasn't aware we'd tried anything complicated!
Must have been very subtle.

I shall qualify my position Mr. Gol.
An english team winning gives the prem a higher status and surely even more global marketing pull, surely we'd benefit from that too.
I was petrified that the prem's CL allocation would drop to 3 if prem teams continued to do so averagely (after manure's lucky win), and if we had to get into the top 3 to qualify i think that would be NUFC stuffed for a vwey long time. So my motives were purely selfish.
Add to that the Italians think no one can teach them anything about footall....
-
Aye, but Juventus, Chelsea and Milan. Credit where it's due I reckon.
Yeah, i cheered like crazy when the 'Pool won it last year, i barely smiled when manure did.

definitely both. Milner seems to be coming on well with Villa and I dont think he would have offered less than Solano (no criticism of Solano). We could have done with Vianna as an understudy to Emre this season already. He's no less physical than him and he would certainly give us something we're lacking. All this on the assumption that we'd have a manager who would get the best out of them and the fact that they'd want to come back too.
I think Emre is more physical, has quicker feet and needs less time on the ball, way more suited to the Premiership. Having said that I don't think Viana was given a fair chance with Newcastle. Anyone know how he's getting on this season?
Il never forgive him for that ridiculous attempt at a header that lost us the game against marseille.
I thought Hughes was to blame for the Marseille result, with his hilarious attempt at thinking about a tackle on Drogba....
'Shall I, no, maybe, maybe now, no, too late, what about now, yes now, NOW, no missed it, wha......fuckit, he scored. Why me, why me.....?'
-
Essien - looking away and leaving high stud marks
Hamman - Looking straight at the player, at his knee and trying to break it!!
PS - I am happy Essien is banned and I feel he should be fined as well. This is the 2nd such tackle by him in his short stay here but his history proves that he is not a violent player.
Err.....his brief history in the Prem would prove that he is

Faye and Bowyer aren't good enough for our ambitions, good enough for our actual league position though.
Don't think we'd get any more CM's though so i don't think it's good to weaken a really thin squad anymore just for the sake of it.
-
Reading icnewcastle they say Faye is a target for Portsmouth and Bowyer for Charlton.
I hope we don't let both of them go.
I'd keep Faye on recent form.
I've a short memory i know

I first read that as Barbara's Bush
Now i know who you mean, i lke it
Have I got this right? If you like a good dark bush it proves you're not a racist?
It might be bad lighting and you're still a fascist

Sweet f*cking Jesus, I wish I was as right as LM all of the time.
Right about Ardiles (before he'd took charge of 1 game)
Right about Ameobi (after one game)
Right about Faye (after a game and a half)
Right about Souness (TBC) (before a ball was kicked)
I really do like his mentality applying to other people (OMG HATE BELLAMY, BACK SOUNESS)
I wish all life was as black and white as this
you are pretty damn correct mate.
I think predictions, or judgement like these, are pretty basic. They are all easy and obvious, unless you wear rose tinted specs
PS. You forgot Kluivert
I think it's ok to have an opinion on whether someone will be any good for NUFC just as long as one can be flexible enough to change one's mind in light of some contrary evidence (if any appears). I, for example, don't think Ramage will make a very good defender, or even a good one, but i'm open to be proved wrong.
I let my overwhelming desire for Kluivert to do well divert me from the fact that he wasn't.
At the time i let my serious dislike of Souness (as a manager) completely side with Bellamy over their falling out. Tbh, i'm indecisive now, Bellars should NEVER have called whoever the manager was a FUCKING PRICK in front of everyone, although i'm not sure he really said it to anyone but himself at the time.

.....in the Corner House on the Coast Road last night.
A lass i work with was there last night with her boyfriend and Nobby & Albert walked in got a drink and asked the barmaid if the quiz was on. Apparently they were accopanied by a funny looking small geezer (reports this was Wacky Jnr are unconfirmed). On being told the quiz wasn't on last night they promptly left the John Barrass run establishment.
I wonder what a Spaniard and a Peruvian would score in a pub quiz!?
I wish someone would tell me why Luque didn't get at least 10 mins on sat.
Never mind the 'team playing well' or 'Sherla doing good', Luque cost £9m and MUST be able to handle pressure and MUST be able to get to grips with a game, regardless of how it's going.
Maybe he needs to go to pub quiz's to get a feel for Souness' team talks:
'Whom do i mean when i say, just lump it up to the big man?'
'Which part of the team should get neck ache watching the ball? Multiple choice lads. a) Defence, MIDFIELD or c) The Big Man'
'Who, and be careful how you answer, is THE FUCKING PRICK NOW?'

Sounds perfect then............

Not incoming, but who do you reckon will be leaving?
Bowyer?
Carr?
Harper?
Chopra?
Faye?
Robert to Benfica?

I think Taylor has potential, far more than Ramage IMO. Taylor is fairly quick, tall, strong, committed, with a good teacher he could learn a lot if he has the brain to match the brawn.
Ramage's only chance is if he's a clever defender because he's slow, not very tall, not strong, isn't great at timing tackles and is very poor on the ball.
