1. On a serious note, I'm taking my 5 year old nephew (who's half West indian) to his first match against Blackburn on Sunday. I wouldnt do that if I had the first thought he'd be the subject of racial abuse.

I'm having a genuine crisis of conscience about taking him to see a Newcastle match (and potentially inflicting that grief on him for the rest of his life), but absolutely no worries that he'd be exposed to any racism.

Your not allowed to say 'West Indian' anymore :taunt::D:D:)

I have difficulty saying 'dual heritage' though. I like the phrase as its very affirmative but it does sound very PC.

His family have no problems with 'West Indian' or 'West Indies' I should add.

Anyway to me he's just Rhys.

    So cock off!

I know, 'dual heritage' sounds like some kinda old car engine doesn't it?

I cant stand that pc b*ll*cks, i really cant.

  3. Since I came to matches at SJP, I was amazed at how unwelcome I was because of my southern accent.

I've been to matches at SJP and have had no trouble with an Australian accent. I've been amazed how welcome I have been made to feel even though I'm not English. All the Geordies I've met have all been great people. It must be because I'm not a cunt I guess.

    33462

You know if he wasn't such a cock and didn't talk bollocks the whole time he's on here, people would maybe acknowledge he could have a slight point with regards to a southern accent at St. james not always getting a great reaction (though more often there'd be no problem). But then you remember he's a wanker and put it down to that why people hate him!

    33475

Actually, i've never had any grief of any NUFC supporters (at away) games. I guess they reckon, based on my appearence, that chances are i'm not Geordie born & bred so my accent aint gonna matter. I've heard a players colour being mentioned during the stream of abuse but i've only ever had smiles and lots of positive noises, though i couldn't make out any words i recognise :)

  4. On a serious note, the worst racist incident I've ever witnessed happened in Bayswater, London. An Africane family were abused by a black guy who then spat on them and told them to 'fuck off back home'. Opened my eyes up that did.

That's the worst you can come up with!!!!!!! You must live in some uppity area man. The most viscious i saw was a gang of sikhs slashing this muslim guy all over. Soooooo much blood. I puked everywhere. They kept calling him something in Punjabi/Urdu and kicking him and stabbing him. Jesus! a bit of spit and swearing.......luxury.

    33451

No, remind us, where do you live? :)

    33454

If you don't know London, Crystal Palace is the nearest place you may have heard of.

    33458

I used to live in Crystal Palace, where are you?!

(Don't say if you don't want to)

    33459

I'm too scared to say in case Alex takes a picture of me in my Henry Rollins t-shirt and uses it to ridicule me

  7. Do you think Souness has balls big enough to ask Owen to play on the right of a 5 man midfield?

    Owen......Bowyer......Faye......Clark.......N'Zogbia

    ............................Shearer..........................

    Bet he wants to.

  8. We dont have enough long ball merchants for Sam

    33284

Are you sure? That looks like the game plan to me, bang it upfield and hope a defender slips allowing Shearer to flick it on to absolutely nobody :)

  9. Do you not think he'd use different tactics if he had different/better players?

I think he picks players and tactics to get the best result he can hope for, if he had good players i reckon he'd play to their strengths. He seems to be an intelligent guy.

I can think of mangers i'd rather have, Hitzfeld and the like but i dont know that Allardyce would be a disaster. I reckon everyone would know what they'd be doing anyway.

  10. Why is a warning a get out clause for racial hatred? Didn't that stuff die about 20 years ago? You surely can't be THAT far behind the times?

    32692

I think this kind of humour will always work on perceived differences between people. Sometimes people find it funny because they realise that those stereotypes might still be in their brain a little and they laugh at themselves. I'm not sure it enforces stereotypes in the minds of intelligent people, idiots need no excuse. Also i dont think it incites racial hatred. Id rather everyone could share the humour for what it is rather than some overly PC vibe where no one knows what anybody really thinks. Some of the jokes are stupid, some are viscious and shocking but people laugh out of some kind of shock.

Last night a friend (white) came round and i was asking him if Robert was white (i'm suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure he aint) and we're sitting at the kitchen table and i say 'i've got 1 real good reason to know he's black man' my friends says 'what?' and i say 'hes too good to be one of you lot' (i'm trying to be provocative here) then my mum pipes up nice and loud so my dad can here over the t.v. ' i've got another, hes lazy and hes got a high opinion of himself.'

We all laughed until we see my dads face. I dont think they're getting on very well at the moment........ :icon_lol:

  11. Well, just cause i laughed isnt gonna make it cool for everybody but i DID think the funny ones were funny. Couldn't take offence personally because jokes are just jokes.

If i actually KNEW any good 'white' ones i'd have plastered them all over the place.

Easy man, i dont think mean bad by telling these jokes. Its base humour, its meant to be hard, the shock is what makes it funny.

    My opinion only .

  12. How many of our players signed under Gullit, Robson and Souness have really improved their game?

This isn't all of them, just some i could think of quickly.

    Carr.................got worse

    Bramble...........not really

    Baba................no

    Boum...............Not so far

    O'Brien.............no

    Hughes.............i didn't think so

Robert..............1st season was his best IMO

    Viana...............no

    Jenas...............no

    Dyer................no

    Zoggy..............a bit

    Faye................no

    Lua Lua............no

    Ameobi............no

Bernard...........improved quite a bit but should have come on more

Bellamy...........yes. He's the only one i can think of who definitely upped his game and was still improving all the time. I put this down to his own desire to get better, he was a very focused guy who desperately wanted to be the best. And we still managed to sell him for less than we paid but thats another thread.

1)It seems to me that other clubs have a much better succes rate at improving players, why is this?

2)Or am i mistaken and the ones i mentioned above have really improved?

3)Or am i mistaken in that players don't ever get better at other clubs either?

  13. Why are we thinking of spending more money to correct problem positions that have already been filled by Souness' buys.

    Bridge in for Babayaro

    Parker in for Faye

I reckon Bridge (if) and Parker are better but are we looking to replace players Souness has bought within a year!!!!!!!!!!

Why buy them then? Why not scout the players out better? Why not make the players we've recently bought better?

  14. Quentin Tarantino is making a new film in New Orleans. It's called Resivoir Wogs.

If New Orleans is the home of Jazz, then what the fuck are Katrina & the Waves doing there!?

    30496

I just want to tell you, that is f**king class man!

A laugh's a laugh bro and thats killer. Gonna make sure that does the rounds.

The Stevie Wonder guitar one is funny too.

  15. OK. I'm glad we had this discussion because it's been on my mind for a couple of years. I haven't got any fixed opinions, they're always in a state of flux because i meet/encounter new people all the time.

    I have suspicions, no one's convicted :-)

It's been enlightening to listen to your opinions (about everything) and i'm glad i've had an opportunity to express mine. It's good to not have to hold back.

The worst possible outcome would be some sickly pro-black PC type atmosphere because i'd rather deal with skinheads! Everyone should be free to call a spade a spade, even my uncle uses this phrase, unbelievable!

I'm learning a lot from all of you and i would gladly buy any of you a.............lemonade (i'm straightedge now ;-))

I may well have 'a chip' , i'll have it examined.

I'm sure Robert is not caucasian. If he is, at least he's foreign.

Alex, nothing you've said i have found even remotely racist. I called myself ChocChip. I called myself that because i knew i was gonna want to have this discussion and i thought it would be a fun way of polarising my position quickly. I every faith that you only an unwitting tool of the white facist regime of denegrating the black man. I'm joking.

Peace brothers, let's call a truce.

I'm gonna have to carry on with my college assignment now before they expel for some trumped up charge of misuse of voodoo or something.

    Back later.

  16. Theres a general bias against foreign players here, usually helped along by Anal Oliver and people of his mentality, such that the likes of Kluivert and Baba are "feigning injury and are lazy mercanaries" but english players are just injury prone if they miss games.

But there isn't a bias against black players if thats what's being implied.

    32163

I think your wrong. I can tell you i've heard enough at away games that, as a black person, i can feel uncomfortable. I've heard 'Titus, you thick black c**t' too often. O'Brien got stick in the end but he was always shite. This doesn't make me think all Geordies are necessarily actively racist (i haven't heard many black taunts from London accented NUFC supporters though, just the once actually, Tottenham away, facist maniac in the seat next to me, it had to be me :icon_lol:), but you wouldn't hear that at Arsenal, not these days, but i still hear it at NUFC games. I remember monkey chants being directed at Carl Cort when Wimbledon beat NUFC at Selhurst Park, and then we signed him, now he WAS crap but why call him a monkey? Whose more often than not the bogeyman who the supporters start blaming first? Ameobi, Bramble, Dyer, Jenas, Robert (polynesian i think - non-white anyway), Babayaro, Faye.

People don't tend to hear what doesn't effect them, nor do they tend to notice a bias which isn't against them. All lot of you notice a bias from the southern media against Newcastle and because of that i notice it, i ask my mates (Londoners) they don't notice it.]

I love the club, i don't love Geordies, i don't have an opinion, i don't know any! But i wouldn't automatically like someone because of their accent or place of birth. When i'm in the away section it's good to be with fans who support your club, it's f**king fantastic tbh and the way you speak if hysterical (in a good way) but don't tell me the insular attitude that is so publicly predominant if not representational of the region isn't gonna jump on the most obvious difference (skin colour) if they've got a gripe with that indivdual, because it always will.

    32199

    ChocChip on your shoulder IMO.

    32202

You'd be all the smarter if you'd called me that yourself, but i knew what i was doing when i chose my user name. Fitting, isn't it? I thought you had more to you.
