  3. Laughing loudly at the usual suspect
  4. Well, maybe we should try to buy him back ? The 5th best chairman over the past decade has already ruled out him coming back here after he sent his son some nasty texts. He could have played in the Nou Camp in a Newcastle shirt. But because he loves the club so much and doing what was best for the team, he decided he'd punch Materazzi in the first 5 minutes of the first group game against Inter, helping the team to a 10-man 4-1 home defeat, and then being suspended for the trip to Barcelona. What fucking difference does it make what stadium it's at???? Really??
  5. I said "But Le Sib AND La Rossi have helped us tremendously." "Le Sib AND Rossi" as a whole Technically if I said "Le Sib AND Bernard have helped us tremendously" it is still correct even though Bernard's contribution is minimal. Back to Rossi. In retrospect I still hold the opinions that the loan deal was a good deal for us (not for Man U). Played a few good games for us, scored a few goals. If Sibierski or Martins were injured we would have a replacement available. It could have much better if Roeder played him more often instead of the ineffective Milner (as striker) and Ameobi (who was to undergo surgery).
  6. Still an excellent deal for Birmingham.
  7. I quite like the bold bit. If this is your plan then good luck to you Glenn, quality loan-signings could solve our problem temporarily and buy us time. But quality and loan don't come together naturally so if you fail to deliver them you should know that you would have done poorly in this transfer window. And please, beggar can't be chooser. We can't always insist on qualities. It would be silly to miss out any new player at all because they are not of the highest quality. In the summer you brought in Bernard and Sib on free, and Rossi on loan. We are unlucky with Bernard's injury. But Le Sib and La Rossi have helped us tremendously. Hopefully you can more of the same.
  8. Birmingham paid 1M £. Soccerbase, BCFC. Upson wasn't a better player than Bramble that time, let alone far better. Also, I am not saying Spector is a far better player, and I have never said that Spector is a solution to our defensive problem. All I am saying is that Spector would represent good value for investment (which we shouldn't miss) as he has prodigee, he is cheap (West Ham bought him for 500k), he is young yet has premiership experience, and he is already better than both Carr and Ramage.
  9. With all due respect to Ramage lad, many defenders (including Moore and Bramble) are significant improvements over him. When Upson first came out from Arsenal, he wasn't any improvement over our then first choice centre backs. However if we have invested a bit of money (Birmingham paid 1 million), see what the rewards we could be reaping now? Even if Boumsong and Bramble were not to turn bad drastically Upson could still be a quality centre half back up. And now we have to pay 6M to get him!
  10. Baggio however does not like us buying big club youth rejects Seriously though 6M is a lot, especially at our current financial quagmire created by the board. I am not entirely convinced that 6M for Upson would be a good deal for us. At 6M or slightly less we should/could maybe get Wes Brown - Manchester United Foreign defender - Foreign club Tal Ben Haim - Bolton Khalid Boulahrouz - Chelsea (may get him at this price after 1 particularly awful performance that upset Mourinho so much) Slyvain Distin - Manchester City Mikel Silvestre - Manchester United Anton Ferdinand - West Ham Or maybe we could pay more to get Curtis Davies - West Brom Gabriel Heinze - Manchester United Or maybe a lot less for Paul McShane - West Brom Roberto Ayala - Valencia Patrick McCarthy - Leichester City Martin Taylor - Birmingham We could have got Sol Campbell for free half a season ago. Lescott cost 5M and look a better player at younger age. Personally I don't see any quick fix availalbe on a cheap. So perhaps Roeder should go for an up and coming young defender (British or foreigner) with talents and leadership quality. If we can get quality then I won't mind to spend more. This however should not hamper our search of a reliable left back.
  11. Incidentally, those who wanted Robson out are those who love Shepherd on the helm.
  12. Worse. Debts. Poor club structure. Injury inducing training facility. Unproductive youth academy.
  13. Excellent Candidates Ottmar Hitzfeld - Free agent. Swiss Super league, Bundesliga, Champions League winner. Paul Le Guen - Miss the chance to sign him. Marcello Lippi - Free agent; Serie A, European Cup, World Cup winner, Arrigo Sacchi - Free agent; Serie A, European Cup winner. Rafael Benitez - Might be sacked by Liverpool Wink La Liga, Champions League winner. Claudio Ranieri - Free agent. Success with all the clubs he is involved except Athletico Madrid. Guus Hiddink - If Russia do not qualify for Euro Championship, he might resign. Sven Goran Eriksson - Share a nice hobby with Freaky Shitbird Marco Van Basten - Done well with Netherland national team. Might fancy club football. Jürgen Klinsmann - Done well with German national team. Might fancy club football. Decent Candidates Aidy Boothroyd - Massively overachieving with Watford. Tactically astute. Very ambitious. Very intelligent. Very passionate. Very young (35). Delima's favourite. Might prefer a bigger club than Watford. But can't imagine him working with Shepherd. Quique Sánchez Flores - Good record with Valencia. Might be sacked by Valencia anytime. But could take some time to adapt to EPL. Keith Amstrong - Finnsh league winner. Boyhood Newcastle supporter. Paul Simpson - Overachieving with Preston. Young bright manager. Might want a bigger club. Christoph Daum - Miss the chance to sign him. Paul Jewell - Good record with Wigan, despite failing to attract players he trully wanted. Turn Heskey from donkey to horse. Young bright manager. Can't imagine him preferring Shepherd over Whelan. Chris Coleman - Establish Fulham as Premiership regular with tight budget. Very young (36). Might fancy a bigger transfer budget. Slaven Bilić - Wikipedia profile Alex McLeish - Rival Martin O'Neill in SPL with a much limited budget. Dilly Davies - Up and coming young manager With a good eye for talent. Rubbish Candidates Graeme Souness Freddy Shepherd Phil Parkinson Bryan Robson David O'leary Alan Shearer Glenn Hoddle Gary Speed Alan Oliver Iain Dowie Lee Clark NE5 HTL
  14. Are you suggesting that having opposition defenders trying to tight mark the fastest man on a football match, who is quite technical and a very good finisher will make him ineffective. I think it's excellent that Oba is proving to be a treath from distance as well as a player to look out for in counter attack situations. By now defenders around the Premiership will have sit up and taken notice I would have thought, and I don't think he will be easy to nullify as he can do it all, score with his left, his right, from distance, counter attack or even heading in crosses.. I don't think Martins is quite technical, yet. When I say "technical" I mean as technical as Henry, Anelka, Cantona or even Ronaldo, Robben etc who can evade the tight marking of defenders simply with a bit ghost footing. For the last goal he scored, I believe if Henry were him he would have somehow left Dawson behind and charge into the box and an attempt. I don't Martins has this ability yet, so obviously I was chuffed to see him unleash that ball with that speed at that angle. But if Ferdinand or Agger were in the place of Dawson then less time and space would have been allowed to Martins and perhaps the ball would be stolen subsequently. Still, Martins is a good enough striker for us Can't imagine life without Martins now
  15. I remember that I opined in N-O about the Newcastle vs Porstmouth Cup home game. I said that Martins showed lots of promise and his has got the class which Ameobi does not have. He chipped a ball over the bar but only a good striker will do this. I would have no doubt Martins is the right buy. I remember that immediately after I posted this comments I received quite a lot of ridicules (as usual). Bla bla bla Shearer never chipped a ball bla bla bla Sadly N-O forum is offline now, else I would love to trace back the posts Wouldn't mind people having different opinions, and obviously I am not always correct. When you are laughed at because you post your opinions in a civilised way, I can't help but think that "in your face" reply when you are proven right is the best respond! Martins has done well for us bu I would like to see he diversify his scoring method. He seems to rely on thunderbolts a fair bit. Better defenders could might easily nullify him by not allowing him anytime on the ball. I also think that Roeder should have kept quiet instead of telling everyone else on TV that Martins is king of missile in everyday training. We are not in a position to tell everyone our secret weapon, are we?
  16. Irish Independent Good read. Couldn't agree more about the bold bit. [Left Winger - Alonso - Sissoko - Gerrard] is a powerful and balanced midfield. Also, I can't stop thinking what would have happened if Alves had come to Liverpool.
  17. The Times Good luck Chopra. I would love it if you could score the winner against Spurs
  18. All Experts This list, FA Youth Cup Finalist, from 85/86 to 03/04, sends a shiver down my spine. Why so few outstanding young players make it in their senior football career? Starting from 96/97, only Gary Cahill, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Luke Moore, Andrew Taylor, Kieran Richardson, Adam Johnson, James Morrison, Liam Ridgewell, Wayne Rooney, Moritz Volz, Steve Sidwell, Jermaine Pennant, Jeremie Aladiere, Justin Hoyte, Calum Davenport, Chris Kirkland, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Richard Dunne, Leon Osman, Tony Hibbert, Francis Jeffers, David Dunn, Harry Kewell, Paul Robinson, Jonathan Woodgate, Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Phil Neville can count themselve as premiership players (benefit of doubt given to Johnson, Jeffers etc) Gary McSheffrey can count himself unlucky not to have tasted premiership yet. This is 32 out of 236. Make it 31 out of 220 to roughly eliminate repition, the percentage is 14%. Admittedly Premiership do not merely consist of youth cup winners. But can anyone tell me why so many players who have achieved well in their teens done poorly in their adulthood?
  19. Martins is from Nigeria where English is a common language. See how the likes of Yakubu, Babayaro are fluent in English.
  20. Don't think all English keepers are shite. Ben Foster and Scott Carson are two good keepers. So as Nicky Weaver (at present). David James - Very good when not making mistakes Steve Harper - Steady good keeper Paul Robinson - Poor
  21. Predictably after Alan Curbishley moved to Upton Park, Paul Konchesky has been frozen up and even dropped from the entire squad in the game against Fulham. He would do a good job for us at left back. Don't think he would cost much either. PS Curbishley is the wrong man for West Ham.
  22. Given - 9 - Excellent reflex. Let down by some uncomposed defending in front of him. Solano - 8 - Lack of speed compensated by excellent reading of the game. Huntington - 8 - Intelligent. Ramage - 5 - Tormented by Defoe and Berbatov. Effort could not make up with defensive inability. Taylor - 7 - Terry's spirit and Ferdinand' touch. Milner - 8 - Very good. Lost possession a few times but use the ball very wisely. Dyer - 7 - Direct. Butt - 8 - Good goal and some verdy good defending. But couldn't control the game. Pattison - 5 - Too quiet. Not at fault as the team seems instructed to channel the ball down the right. Even Given kick all his balls to the right. Sibierski - 7 - Good link up play between midfield than Martins. Martins - 9 - Poorly supported. But deliver when it matters. Robinson - 5 - Some telly saves but very poor in general. A liability more than an asset nowadays for Spurs. Chimbonda - 8 - Good full back display. Despise him for his behaviour though. Dawson - 6 - Fail to impose himself. Davenport - 5 - Even poorer than Dawson. Lee - 8 Good full back display. Lennon - 8 - Skillful. Taimo - 6 - Poor Huddlestone - 7 - Good. But need to stamp his authority more. Malbranque - 9 - Fantastic. Spurs can forget about Downing, Wright-Phillip, Duff and N'Zogbia now. Berbatov - 9 - Excellent Defoe - 9 - Excellent
  23. Who do you speak for by saying sorry? Delima is a Middlesbrough fan, a fact established by me prior to the UEFA Cup Final, but he's right about David Jones, class player. Billy Davies said he's the most gifted player he's managed, fair enough he's only managed Preston and Motherwell players, but quite a compliment for a 20 year old. I am also a Mackem and a yank. And a Keegan Bandwagon Jumper lest you forget ...
