  1. Not read the thread but bring on the water cannons and send in the army I say. Shoot the bastards. As usual everyone blames the police - they can't win And it makes me laugh when they describe this guy as a family man - he had a fucking gun and was posing as a gangster on face book for goodness sake These rioter scumbags need sorting out, we are the laughing stock of Europe, no other country puts up with this to the extent we do The social deprivation argument is bullshit - these socially deprived people with their laptops and blackberries, whatever next? My parents grew up with nothing after world war 2 - they didn't have a penny to rub together - they didnt go out robbing and stealing I feel so sorry for the vast majority of ordinary black, asian and white people who live in these areas who are decent law abiding citizens who would welcome a stronger police presence and strong action taken against these scumbags - no one seems to hear their voice
  2. I think its an American expression but it seems to be creeping in over here - Ive heard it used on radio 5 and TV a few times recently
  3. People who say "do the math" - its seems to be a recent thing - what happened to the s for fuck sake - it really irritates me for some reason
  4. A list of potentially good players you have listed there CT - for those who make the grade and live up to their potential we can look forward to selling them on to our competitors for a profit next summer
  5. The idea that making non season ticket holders join as members will reduce trouble is laughable. At the end of the day if you are arrested at a football match they can ban you whether you are a member or not - it doesnt make any difference. Also, it won't stop people travelling down to games without tickets, it may even encourage it, which if anything increases the chances of trouble occurring even if its not actually in the ground. Its just another way of making more money which won't be spent on the team
  6. THIS IS THEIR 9TH (NINTH) TRANSFER WINDOW I think your wasting your time trying to explain this to some people LM - Its seems to be difficult to get the simple message through to some of them - how long and how many chances are some people prepared to give this bloke - judge him on what he done in the last 4 years not what he may or may not do in the next few weeks- incredible
  7. I don't have "opinions", I am speaking facts, absolute facts, when I tell you the position the club was in when the last owners found it and where they left it. The fact, is that you are now wanting the owner to speculate on quality footballers, which is precisely what the old owners did for 15 years, and for which arseholes like you gave them flak for doing. This is how we got those league positions and appeared in europe regularly and the Champions League. It is my opinion that Mike Ashley will not do this, but having witnessed such owners before ie pre-1992, such owners are easy to spot by their actions, lies, selling of best players, and buying policies, and other things. After 4 years, I am to date very much correct in everything I have said almost since Ashley got his feet under his desk, and the clock is ticking for brainwashed fools like you who are living in a fantasy world and won't listen. If you find I'm condesending, then it is purely down to your own stupidity that I have to keep repeating myself. And that's the bit that won't sink in one of the biggest clubs in europe, not a club with small limited potential that needs to sell to survive like the Boltons and Blackburns of this world, running a low cost operation, which is what you are advocating. What doesn't sink in with you, is the fact that you will not challenge the likes of Liverpool and Spurs - clubs with smaller support and stadiums than we do for starters - if you sell them your best players and pocket the money. Spot on LM, I've had too much to drink but its unbelievable that some people cannot see how Ashley is dragging us down - all my NUFC friends who go to the games regularly and all my friends who are villa, blues, wolves and wba fans can see exactly what Ashley is doing - why is it some people on here and on NO cannot see what is going on? For fuck sake he is killing the club and it beggars belief that some people cannot see the bigger picture
  8. Good post, it sums up in a nutshell exactly what is going on and exactly where Ashley is taking the club Going to sound like a broken record here but perhaps the time to judge our window is at the end of it, not right at the start. Yeah the regime don't have a great pedigree when it comes to transfers but I'll moan about them when and if they prove the doubters (myself included) to be right. But it isnt just about this transfer window - its about the whole direction he is taking us in and the lack of ambition and the lack of net spend over the last few years. I am judging him on his record to date, not what he may or may not do in one transfer window.
  9. Good post, it sums up in a nutshell exactly what is going on and exactly where Ashley is taking the club
  10. I'm sure everyone knows this already, but in the 1945/46 season Newcastle set a record at that time in England for the highest ever average crowd fot the season, over 56,000 !! It wasn't beaten until the 1970's and that was by Man United. And we were in the second division when we set that record!! That same season we has an average of over 13,000 for the reserves, another record !! When that twat Ashley is busy lowering expectations,. turning us into a blackburn or Stoke, its well worth remembering! I think thats a great NUFC releted fact
  11. indeed, I have said numerous times that I never wanted us to spend unlimited money, I said at the time Allardyce was appointed that it was, in my view, and admission that they realised that they had to curb the spending and "re-group" as they did the first few years of Bobby Robson's appointment. Then they speculated on Craig Bellamy and Laurent Robert and we got into the top places again. But you only do this if you want to and are prepared to speculate, Mike Ashley isn't. Nowt wrong with that. However, it doesn't mean you have to sell your best players and impose wage caps and spending caps on a long term basis [which is what he has done], this is not "re-grouping" it is a lowering of standards. There is no excuse for NUFC resorting to being a selling club again like it was under McKeag, Seymour etc but sadly that is what we now are. It is clearly the case and has been since he got his feet under the table. No doubt Spurs will re-group, if they have to, and of course it is the right thing to do for them, but I bet they don't go down the route that we have taken under Mike Ashley. Absolutely spot on - its just baffling that more people can't see it.
  12. I think everyone is for sale for the right price
  13. Anyone hear the discussion about Newcastle United on 5 live last night? It was advertised earlier as 'whats going on at Newcastle United' and it lasted about 10 minutes. There was John Anderson from Radio Newcastle, Martin Keown, Ian McGarry and an American pundit who is on the show regularly The overwheming consensus of opinion was that by signing freebies and other players for relatively low fees, Ashley is 'restructuring the club downwards', 'downsizing' the club and is trying to recoup as much of his outlay as possible. They were all asking what has happened to the £35 million and there was general disbelief that a club the size of Newcastle could be managed in such an unambitious way. There was also surprise that a player as influential as Nolan could be sold and they kept asking what message this sends to the other quality players at the club I agreed with every word they said.
  14. West Ham have nowhere near the potential of Newcastle but sadly it looks like they may now have more ambition And yes it would make Spurs a selling club - Redknapp was spot on yesterday when asked about Modric he basically said he wants to keep him at all costs and stated that if you want to be a top club then you dont sell your best players and that if you want to keep your top players then you have to show them that you have the ambition. Can you imagine Pardew saying that?
  15. I agree with most of that Marcos, we should be trying to sign top players but unfortunately we have become a selling club because Ashley does not have the ambition to match our exceptional fan base
  16. The remake of the Wicker Man is one of the worst films I have ever seen - its unbelievably shit 0/10 The original film is one of my all time favourites - a classic 9/10
  17. I think Harry Redknapp was spot on this morning on 5 live when he said, in reference to Modric, that if you want to be a top club then you dont sell your best players and that if you want to keep your top players then you have to show them that you have the ambition. Would be great if Pardew came out and said that and Ashley took note - neither will happen of course
  18. jay, no disrespect mate, but Mike Ashley has got you well trained, you are just the sort of fan he is looking for for! Can you not see that that we should be a much bigger club than what your friend Big Mike is aiming for? We are not Stoke or Bolton we are one of the biggest clubs in Europe or at least in terms of support we are - for fuck sake have a bit more ambition!! Surely you can see that Ashley, a person who has lied about Keegan, who is a legend at our club, surely you see that he does not have the best interests of our club at heart? Even you must understand that?
  19. And you're OK with this? I'm going to report your post for that word you've used there on the end of your post. I am ok with it yes. I'l tell you why...Because its what needs to happen for us to build and be stronger for it in time. To stop us getting into the same mess we were left in by the last board. Its not like we are selling and then buying in shit...Cabaye shows that. We will remain competitive but will also look to trim the wage bill further...maximise profit on sales and making us a stronger more viable option for a prospective buyer. In the meantime it puts us in good stead for the new financial rulings which are coming into place shortly. You are having a laugh or winding people up surely? I agree about the intention to maximise profit on sales, thats his intention for sure. Do you think if Cabaye turns out to be any good that he will still be here in 2 years time? He will be sold on to maximise profit The hieght of Ashleys ambition is to keep us in the Premier League year on year, mid table mediocrity if we are lucky, whilst spending as little as possible. No ambition whatsover.
  20. The article is utter bollocks and very insulting as well
  21. 55 mil on a couple of players with limited prem experience and we sign a guy who's just won the double and broke into the France team for 4 mil, Jesus you are unbelievable Jay my sad friend its you who are unbelievable - you obviously think Liverpool have got it wrong? Do you think we will be competing with them in the next few years and finishing above them in the league? Where'd the money come from Brummie ??? They make hugely more than us so how do we fill the gap ?? Liverpool have taken big gambles, I have little doubt that their net spend this summer will be moderate. Even if it's not, it's being funded on the back of years and years of profit. Well theres the £35 million from Carroll, theres all the Sky money and Premier League money, there is the money from being the 3rd biggest supported club in England and if Ashley cares about the club he could put some of his own money in as well. I'm sorry but we should not be settling for second best and lowered expectations - there is no excuse for it
