The OFFICIAL Transfer Rumours Thread
David Kelly replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'd hoped we'd stopped signing players and then hoping to move them into an unfamilier position. Everything so far has seemed pretty well targeted at signing players who play in a position we need filling. -

I assumed it would end up being something to do with either him or Sissoko. Still if they're valuing Ibe at £15m that means less cash coming our way. Which is, of course, only a concern if we need it for signings. -

Depends on whether Tiote goes (I think he will), whether Saivet can do anything (not sure) and where Rafa sees Shelvey fitting in. I think there's a good chance he'll get a decent amount of games and I'm hopefull he'll be a good signing. My only issue was how it would work with Arsenal if it was a loan. Which it isn't. I see we're being linked with Ibe today. Isn't he a right winger? Don't really understand that after signing Ritchie. And I'm not keen on spending the £15m Bournmouth have apparently already offered. -

True but none of them are brilliant (Diame plays further forward I think). They're decent but I'd say anyone who couldn't get a game ahead of them wouldn't be someone who we'd be expecting to walk into the team and I don't see the point of loaning someone who isn't that. Obviously we've signed him on a permanent deal as it happens and I suspect Rafa is thinking of him as someone who he can mould into a first team player. The comments I've seen about him from Arsenal and Hull fans have all been pretty positive. -
I've never seen anything of him but I quite like the sound of this signing. Bruce seemed to be keen on him and most Arsenal fans I've heard don't seem to be too happy with letting him go. I'm also impressed that as a club we knew anything about him. Players like Gayle and Ritchie are more obvious having played in the premier league and Rafa's Spanish connection is obviously how the Jesus deal has come about but this deal seems to have required a lot more thought. Not something we're usually good at. We really do seem to have a new Newcastle United this summer and it's really refreshing to see.

Don't like the idea of that at all. Loan signings should only be made for players who are ready to walk straight into the team. Rossi was a prime example of how not to do it.

The OFFICIAL Transfer Rumours Thread

Hayden seems more like a defensive midfielder than centreback. Glad it's a permanent deal. Don't see the point of us signing a youngster on loan from arsenal. Unless it's someone who's going to be a definite starter it doesn't really benefit either of us too much. He wasn't a guaranteed starter for Hull so I'm not really expecting him to go straight in for us. -

What's hateful about him being of a Moroccan lineage? Love the Morocan's me, Casablanca is one of my favourite films. -

The OFFICIAL Transfer Rumours Thread
David Kelly replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
I had a bit of a look to see if I could find out anything more about either of them and Morocan kid was apparently known as the Mahrez of non league and he's been looked at by a host of premier league clubs over the last six months. Apparently he's a "youtube sensation" because of his skills and was once on a Nike advert with Neymar. The Scottish lad played in the majority of Kilmarnock's games last season as they just avoided relegation. I suppose they both look like they have more pedigree than most of the rest of our reserves but I don't have much hope of Beardsley coaching anyone up to the standard we'd want. -

We've signed a couple of young uns for the reserves today too. One of them played 27 for Kilmarnock last season so he should at least help improve the shambles that has been our reserve team. Probably never make it into the first team like. -
I can't remember ever seeing him play but the reports are he's a better defender than Janmaat but not as good going forward, although I read somewhere that Simione sometimes used him right midfield so I guess he's not a mug. He's never scored a league goal though apparently. He played over 250 games for Malaga including while they were doing well up the top end of the league and he was their captain before he went to Athletico.
-
Janmaat will be away. This lad was playing for the champions league runners up. He's not going to come to England and drop a division unless he's been told we're expecting him to be our first choice. I don't think Janmaat going is a reason to be happy but im happy with the pedigree of replacement, and I'm happy this guy appears to be a leader which I feel we've had too little of on the pitch, probably since the likes of Nolan and Butt.

Moussa Sissoko signs for Spurs for like £30m or WatEVA
David Kelly replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
He never looks like he has the ball under control. Even last night when he had a pretty decent game, his touch is poor. I agree with Fish that if he's motivated (which he won't be for us even with Rafa) he's a very useful player, but it's purely down to his physical attributes rather than ability. I'm happy with the stance that Rafa is taking with him mind. With some of the fees this summer there's no way we should be held to ransom by him.- 1745 replies

I thought he was better than this tbh.
-
He's not a good defender. He's good going forward and for large parts of the season he was our best attacker and attacking is a big part of a fullbacks job these days. But when you have a defence like the one we've had, his lack of defensive quality probably cost us more than his attacking ability gave us. Of course he wasn't helped by having that gutless cunt Sissoko in front of him. I'm not desperate for him to leave but I'll not be distraught over it.

David Kelly replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
Always thought he was a decent player but never liked having a right footed leftback. I know plenty who thought he was gash though. I'm sure they'll be rewriting history quickly enough if they sign him. I've already heard some of them say how he hates us.
