  1. Mrs PL booked up to see Chris Addison months ago, I'd forgotten all about it....untill last week when she mentioned its tonight at 8pm.......so, she has managed,in the last few months, to book off and thus render useless for viewing football of any kind the last week of last season, the first two weeks of next season and now this. For someone who doesn't like football she seems to know a hell of a lot about fuckin fixture lists....evil genius tbh :(

  2. So they don't have to sell players would be my guess.

Well yeah, but as you say they made champions league style money through sales last season and still kept challenging for the top 4... I think its fair ro say Modric is off, and Bale must be thinking of it, regardless of whether they need to sell or not.And my guess is they dont if your figure for last season is accurate. Any money for Bale and Modric can be added to last seasons profit. Theyre in a good place finacially iyam.

  3. Are the press protecting Redkanpp though?....to go from being a shoe in to lead the nation at a major finals to being on the dole in six months is a quite a fall.....why are so many key figures/institutions losing faith with him or having no faith whatsover in the first place?.....that drivel Gemmil posted this morning is an indication of how the print journos feel about him, are they holding the next thing he's going to be in bother with back, even though it may be getting whispered into to important ears by those itk?

  4. I think its more to do with Levy thinking Redknapp wanting the England job is what made Spurs fall apart in the second half of the season which ultimately cost them a CL place.

I think they made about £27 million profit on transfers last season so ot could be they were relying on the money from qualifying.

    for what?...

  5. I've got BT vision and the package I have with them includes ESPN, I would have thought that they would just replace ESPN in that package with their own channel.

Can you get the ESPN games on your laptop?....I think its about £9 a month just for ESPN?...maybe the BT games will only be available on broadband to those with a BT mobile broadband contract and thats where they theink they'll make their money?..

  6. The surprise was the arrival of BT as a major player on the football broadcasting market, winning the rights to show 38 matches and replacing ESPN. A spokesman for BT said that it would negotiate to appear on as many different platforms as possible. It was competition from new bidders like this which pushed the price of rights so high.

Looks like BT are buying into the market so they can stream their package via their already set up broadband service. Good move on the face of it, but this "second package" has been a bit of a poisoned chalice. Will people swap from having skysports and their own broadband service?....doubt it.

  7. "Full #thfc statement with Levy and Redknapp comments. Note to Spurs: stop calling him Harry. You've lost that affection http://t.co/xqR70pwz"

Tweet from John Cross at the Mirror. It's his name you fucking pathetic wanker. The press are ridiculous where this rentaquote arsehole is concerned.

Just shows you if you've got the press on your side you can do no wrong. Levy went cold on Redknapp for whatever reason, thats life. Why this fuckin bairn is so upset on Harry's behalf beats me but just shows you the fuckin agenda some of these arseholes have. Utterly pathetic.

  8. If they lose Redknapp, Bale,Adebayor and Modric this summer then aye, its difficult to see anything other than a "transistional" season coming up.

Poor old Spurs. Arsenal may lose Van Persie this summer but it looks like barring a fuckin miracle they're going back into the gooners shadow again

  9. agreed

Germany play almost the same formation with different players and it totally changes the style, Khedira and Schweinsteiger instead of Van Bommel and De Jong

if it was me Id be dropping Van Bommel but since hes captain I dont see it

Khedira and Schweinsteiger are two of the best players at the tournament....De Jong and Van Bommel....well.....theyre not.

  10. Hmmm you explained that well. So people are claiming this practise has been going on for two decades? No wonder the claim is so high. Surely Murray has to be accountable for some of this?

99.5% of it....they went under because of the debts and the way Craig White bought the club, nothing to do with this "big tax" carry on.

  11. Paddock Lad – the names of possible title winners I stated is after the results are changed due to the ineligibility, not just promoting who finished second. (someone on a SPL board did the maths, I am quoting from memory though)

Makes more sense now,it sounds like your list may be those affected by cup finals,European places etc etc....fuckin hell

  12. To be totally honest with you, I don't understand the concept of "double contracts".

Neither do I mate :iol: but if all the English players they got in the late 80s and early 90s werent just there for European football but were induced to sign because of what are basically,in the eyes of HMRC, illegal payments, then thats cheating. The last 25 years of RFC will then be removed from history. But the case hasnt got to court yet, Toonpack may be able to rell us why he thinks its nailed on that theyre toast?...

  13. Nar they were more or less self sufficient in the Gazza/Laudrup years, they were Champions League regulars, had full houses, and with the help of a certain Freddie Fletcher were marketed superbly.

The downfall of Rangers financially came in the Advocaat years. They spent nigh on £100m, £12m alone on Tore Andre Flo, the de Boer's, van Bronckhorst, Artur Numan the list is endless and this is where their financial woes started. If you remember by the time MON took over Celtic they were spending all of the money and McPish had to rely on frees like Nacho Novo. It's amazing McPish won two titles, and Rangers have been struggling financially ever since. I bet Souness knew the seriousness of their plight when he gave them £8m of OUR MONEY for Boumsong. Scum bag and scum bags. My heart bleeds.

All true, but as Toonpack says players were being induced to join the club with the promise of "double contracts" virtually from as soon as David Murray bought the club in 1986. This forms the basis of "the big tax case", which is different to the Craig White affair that has caused them to be liquidated. Its cheating, and if the court finds against the club and in favour of the taxman they'll be struck from the records books from 1987-2012, which will hurt your average Hun a lot more than having to play Forfar and Brechin for a few years.

  14. Bit of a fallacy that Ant. The OF get 80% of the TV money anyway for example, it only would take a couple of hundred more fans a game for each team to balance the loss of Rangers visits. That'd be easily achievable if teams actually had a chance (albeit for second place initially).

SPL rules can only be changed by a vote of 11 - 1 and as the OF always vote in their own interest it's a closed shop. It's great chance for reform up there, maybe some steps backwards initially but to move forwards longer term. Everything up there is weighted by the OF for the OF. It needs to change.

If they vote them back in, many teams own fans are going to desert in droves because they haven't just lived beyond their means (a'la Portsmouth) they've actually cheated, by the use of the EBT and double contracts, if proven (and it looks nailed on) all games involving inelligible players should be, according to the rules, made 3-0 losses. If that's applied in Rangers "glory years" Hearts, Hibs, Motherwell, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd (I believe) would all have won titles.

As far as fans up there think, if the cheats prosper and the SPL/SFA/SFL and even their own clubs bend over backwards because they are worried about £££'s, really as a fan, what is the point. This is about money v sporting integrity.

Only Hearts,Aberdeen and Motherwell (apart from Celtic obviously) have finished 2nd since their first title under Murray in 1987, but yeah, it puts their Celtic-equalling 9-in-a-row in a new light. Gazza and Brian Laudrup in the same side in the mid nineties doesnt prove anything, but it gives a pretty strong indication that something was going on. Their history for the last 25 years is now utterly redundant. Fuckin hell thats verging on cataclysmic with regards to their relationship with every other club theyve played in that time. A European Cup semi final in 92 is about as worthless as the bribe-paying Marseille winning it that year as well.

Hopefully the other chairman will realise all this and put integrity above income but I wouldnt bank on it.

  15. Moyes is favourite apparently. And the wording of the statement to ESPN is interesting "It is not true, there is not a chance I will resign. Why should I? I have a year left on my contract."

    In other words "sack me!"
