  1. Yeah, it was more a general question from me.

As repugnant as the abhorrent cunts tweets are, I thought inciting racial hatred was to encourage others to partake, preaching hate. Is it actually just being a racist prick?

Pretty surprised people get jail time for name calling as a first offence.

Thats pretty much what I thought....to me calling someone a name isnt a crime. But am not sure where it lies in all the "hate crime" legislation Labour brought in. I hope he appeals and it gets thrown out.

  2. I think getting into Europe will make a massive difference to how Ashley feels about things and in that lies everything.

We don't have to sell if we don't want to and a few sensible additions would make us a much stronger force than this year.

Futures very bright IMO. (but when's it not) ;)

Thats a massively contradictory statement. Where do you think the money for Cisse came from?

  3. Keeping hold of players and strengthening the team isn't progress itself. They're actions that may or may not lead to progress.

Progress is largely finishing higher in the league next year than this year and that is a big ask.

That was the point I was trying to make, we could invest as wisely as Liverpool have and easily finish lower next season.

Liverpool haven't had Europe to deal with and will likely finish lower than they did last season. Ho hum, never mind.

Spurs finsihed 4th in 2009/10, but 5th last season when they had champions league football. They took the piss out of the Europa league this season and it will be a surprise if they dont finish in the 4 now, 5 points ahead of us and Chelsea. So we might be better finsishing 6th and staying out of the Europa if we want to progress. I'd love a european campaign but I think we'd suffer in the league. Although Liverpool have shown nothing is a given. But I get the feeling them and us are heading in opposite directions in a few different areas.....

  4. Progress would be finishing in the top 6, keeping hold of the current playing staff and building the strength of the squad with some first team-standard signings.

We're selling to buy, so some will go. Other clubs know its open season on our players...pay enough and a deal will be done. We're not the only ones by any means in this situation though. FFP may save us to an extent as well... although if we're looking for top dollar we may price oursleves out of the market. Which will have a knock on effect as to what we can spend. Interesting times, but am encouraged by our recent moves in the market & re-signing off Colo etc.

  5. Got to say, that piece is a bit premature. Away fans can sometimes be a bit dry and ironic.....from the club's site I take it?

  6. Aye, picking on fans, hotel staff and journos is just bullying. Its needs some hulking great stage hand to fuckin beat some common sense into him. Wouldnt be good for the hand's career mind, so thats probably what saves him, power.

  7. Are clubs like Liverpool or Chelsea likely to come in for him on what he's done this season?...I dare say that their cheerleaders in the media would say his natural home would be Arsenal, but if Wenger was going to take a chance on him theyd have been in for him when we were. Wenger wont pay huge money for him now I wouldnt have thought.

  8. Ann Hathaway just breezed past our office in a blue jag without blacked out windows....not sure if shed been in "make up" yet but she looked tidy..theres been a huge black merc with blacked out windows yesterday and today and thats apparently Russel Crowe, although some folk nabbed him for a photo and he was, almost unbeleiveably, hugely rude to them. The phrase "no shit?!" sprang immediately to mind....

  9. Love the way this threads title keeps changing. Good stuff

One canny game doesn't make him the new Pedro....still a lot to do in my eyes. The greatest players do it 7/8 games in 10. Not a couple of good cameos and a brilliant 45mins in 7 months. I do understand there have been injury issues and he's been in and out the side. He's got the ability to be among the best players we've seen in this country. Can't decide if Pardew's "played" him as some are claiming or he's found his true place in a 4 3 3 or he was just in a good mood on Sunday. We'll see. But aye, a huge talent. If he has a good end to the season and gets in the French squad for the summer and does well in Poland/Ukraine we'll be lucky to hang on to him.

  10. Two days before Christmas in 1995, Jocky Wilson, one of the most colourful characters ever to play darts, twice world champion and a working-class hero to millions, said farewell to the sport. On a wet Tyneside morning, he and his wife, Malvina, left their home in Wallsend with a couple of suitcases and got a bus to Kirkcaldy, Fife, where Jocky was born. Ill with diabetes and pulmonary problems, he then lived as a recluse, seeing a few friends and granting a handful of interviews. In these, he always said that he had brought most of his problems on himself.

  11. From the Guardian comments section on the WBA game:

Big props to Alfredo Di Perchano - the
    Mansfield Zanetti
is having a great time of it of late and long may it continue.

  12. I watched that edition of top of the pops

He was interviewed once and was asked what he does to control his nerves. He replied "I drink pints of vodka".When they banned drinking from live televised tournaments he, along with most of the greats Cat mentions, was finsihed in the erm "sport". He's dead at 62, and as somebody else said its a fuckin miracle he got to that age. RIP Jocky, Lang Toun legend.

  13. Fat Sham's West Hahahahaham :)

Apparently the dildo sellers + their evil henchwoman will oversee the demise of the club if they don't go up.....Leyton Orient for the Olympic Stadium!

  14. Set up perfectly for us tomorrow.

    Watch us fuck it up.

Its happend so many times this season

Not so many times as last season....before Stevie Taylor's injury we were beating every team we conceiveably could be beating. Last week and tomorrow could be very important. We go level on points with Chelsea...wonder if their bunch of bell ends will down tools in the league and concentrate on the FA cup?.....

  15. i've criticised us about the left back thing till i'm blue in the face, nevermind the fact i had to argue with people on here to prove santon was supposed to be on the right when the club came out with "davide the left back"

And all i've said about ferguson is there is no way in fucking hell the lads a defender, as i said i seen him the other week up at my work and a strong wind would knock him over, as above, just because the club decide to lob whatever label is handy on our players doesn't mean it's true.

Santon is not a left sided player, neither is jonas for that matter, or R.Taylor but they'll get called that when it suits to make up for our insane lack of depth

yeah but you're implying that he's physically not up to what in all likelyhood will be a one off appearance in the first team. I don't know how your judgement of him at your work can compare to my having seen him put a decent shift in at Stoke last season in similar circumstances. Unless you're secretly a squad member at NUFC yourself and you've seen Demba and Colo have been kicking the shit out of him in training. I happen to agree with you btw, he's not outstandingly gifted so will struggle with his size long term at the top level. But theres no point in condenming him and not suggesting we could have a better squad with more experianced back up.If we're all on Mike's happy bus and are all supposed to be singing from the same hymnsheet then I'd suggest he's the sort of backup we can expect of where we are in Ashley's "project"...young and relatively untried.

  16. So we're having a dig at a young lad who may be getting his big premier league chance tomorrow and not criticisng the club itself for not having a left footed left back at the club. Strange way of seeing the game iyam. Of course if we had a lflb at the club, he could be injured too but this is a squad game. Shane Ferguson is a squad player and did ok in an awful performance at Stoke last season.Plainly Stoke are a big physical side but he wasnt overawed and he didnt look out of place. He's not going to be the next Ryan Giggs or Stuart Pearce but he's part of the squad and should get the same support as anyone else.
