  1. DAB is fuckin shite unless its coming through the TV or you're very lucky. As for using it in a car its beyond a joke....it really isnt intended for use on the go, The technology will have to improve hugely before they switch analogue off :D

  2. people underestimating him now. He's becoming a good player.

So he's ready for the England squad for South Africa?....he's got talent for sure, but as Shearer said a couple of weeks ago he needs to work on every single part of his game. He's got potential, but thats it at the moment. One thing Ive noticed about him is he really doesnt hold the ball up when its played into his feet and theres a defender breathing down his neck. He tries to ride the expected challenge, and almost always gives the ball away cheaply. He did this 3 times in 5 mins v boro and the on the 3rd occasion it led straight to boro's first goal. Nolan could be seen rightly bollocking him in the centre circle before the restart. Lots of work to be done before we're talking England squads.

  3. lmFao. Emphasis on 'F'. I want to be back in the PL as much as everyone else. But it is disgusting the way that Taylor's been treated. I love the way opinions change amongst the fans soooo quickly. Taylor has been a solid player for us for the past few years, showed faith, loyalty, especially in the summer. No-ones had a bad word to say against him. Now this has happened, and Carroll happens to be scoring loads in the fizzy pop league (which he wont do next year), and everyone backs the long haired prick and now starts the anti-taylor chat. "Oh, I never liked him" etc. Well first time these kind of comments have come out. People need to open their eyes, Carroll NEEDS to go in the summer, and I hope thats part of Chris Hughtons plan. Keep him sweet and scoring. once promoted, sell him.

Please Chris, make the right choice!!

Didn't he try to get a move to Everton last summer? I can honestly say I've never really warmed to Taylor: the 'been shot' play-acting; the look at me pointing faux-organising; the last man off the pitch clapping cliche. All a bit cringeworthy imo.

you've forgotten the running on to the pitch straight to the fans and giving them a clenched fist salute but apart from that your critque of him is spot on ;)

he'll never play for us again, but wants some sympathy. so it looks like his old man has been feeding old Roy Keane knickers a pile of shite..ho hum.

  4. The road distance(cycling) is 874 miles.

The most commonly taken off road (walking) route is 1,200 miles.

For a small island though, we pack some varied and stunning scenery in.

indeed, my comment wasn't meant as a slight btw.....just remarking on the difference between there and here.

for instance it would take you 24 hours of straight driving to make it from toronto to the border of Manitoba. Or it took me 19 hours of driving to drive 2/3 of the distance across (Smithers to Trail) BC.

    ;)

    None taken mate.

I find the distances involved on the North American continent mind blowing.

I know what you mean...I got on a train in Houston,Texas about 1030pm one evening.....the next day about 430pm we were just leaving El Paso.....which meant we were still just about in Texas.....we didnt arrive into L.A. until 10am the next morning....36 hours and two nights on one train journey :icon_lol:

  5. my sister sent me the link, she is taking a sabbatical year next year and was thinking of hiking the path of the wall.

So I looked it up on google earth, I am constantly blown away by the geographical scale of Britain, it's so much smaller than what I am used to. How long would it take to drive from the channel to the north sea?

If you mean the English Channel then the two meet at Dover.

If you mean the Irish Sea (which is the sea off the whole west coast of mainland England) to the North Sea on the the east coast then its about 60-70 miles at its narrowest point, which, ironically/coincidentally/dleberately, is where Hadrian chose to build his wall, at the narrowest point of the British Isles ;)

  6. You could NOT make it up........

The British Tax Payer Pays a Mad Mullah More Than Our Frontline Soldier

    see the link.

    http://orderorder.files.wordpress.com/2010...h-v-soldier.jpg

Here is an evidence-based chart you won’t see elsewhere; it shows how much taxpayers are forced to give to Anjem Choudary – the extremist cleric who wanted to lead a protest march through Wootton Bassett.

He claims £25,740 in benefits to subsidise his hate preaching. Guido questions how he can be seeking work when he spends all his time rabble rousing in broadcast studios and on demonstrations.

In contrast a frontline soldier, fighting Choudary’s taliban allies in Afghanistan , takes home £17,004 for risking his life.

If that Private is killed in combat, his widow and children would have to live on a pension less than Choudary gets. Why are British taxpayers paying their enemies more than their soldiers? Is Choudary really actively seeking work?

The evidence suggests he has other priorities – so stop his benefits

It looks like something that someones knocked up during their lunch :icon_lol:

I'm not saying what it/you're claiming is right or wrong, but that doodle proves fuck all.

ps are you Richard Littlejohn?....good win for the Spurs tonight ;)

  7. no it doesn't

Yes, it does. say or do certain things nowadays and you get arrested. Look at the whole concept of 'hate crimes'. basically politically driven nonsense that keeps other political influences down. if your enemy cant say what he wants to say then how can he communicate his ideas?

With the right to freedom of speech, thought and expression comes the responsibility not to use it in an imflamatory manner.....thats in some UN accord thing which I cant remember the name of but its the framework of a lot of anti-hate laws in existance. In other words, think what you like, but wind others up by expressing those thoughts in an imflamatory manner and, rightly or wrongly, you're nicked.

It's deliberately vague laywer speak and creates more problems than it solves if you ask me. How can you measure the extent of "imflamatoryness" for fucks sakes? ;)

  8. on that note :

    from the .com match report

Worries that recent events will result in dressing room division at SJP and a dilution of our much- vaunted "collective spirit" remain. Despite a goal celebration here that was conspicuously communal - a contrast to the "leper" treatment of a post-goal Craig Bellamy six years ago - the feelings of the squad as a whole remain unclear.

Quite how popular Steven Taylor really is among his peers may now become apparent - certainly the media picture painted of the clean-living hero being the idol of the fans doesn't quite tally with our own observations.

On the same note, saw this on another forum, and it was posted saying theyd seen it on a different forum, so its at least 4th hand, but interesting none the less:

Received this in an E-mail last night. I've had info before from this source and it turned out to be spot on, so I reckon this could be the truth!

Just spoke to my fooball agent mate who knocks about with Smith and Nolan.....Taylor was texting Carrols lass who has Andy's bairn, while the Toon were at Swansea and he was in Newcastle, asking her to come round...Taylor used to shag her before carroll.

Taylor is despised at the club by all, very arrogant and done his best to move to Everton last summer which pissed the lads off. His Fatha, has gone to the press and spinning loads of ****e on the back of Carrolls bother in the Bigg market....Here's the depth of feeling in the squad....Harper, Nolan, Smudge, Butt and Shola all went in and told Hughton yesterday to sell Taylor because of his selfish attitude.

Carroll is apparantly thick as mince but a good honest lad and easily wound up.. They were in the treatment room after training when Carroll went up to Taylor and said 'One chance to admit it as i've seen the texts' and Taylor just laughed at him and went to walk away and Carroll dropped him.

Good on the kid I say...The problem now is taylor and his Fatha are spinning this to the press behind the clubs back.....Just logged in to Lee Ryders blog on the chronical following the game and he says Jonas, Nolan and Butt all gave Carroll a big hug before kick off.

So...thats the truth. Let people know and make sure that Taylor doesn't get away with this, as Carroll could well end up in jail over it!!

If theres anything in this, I'd imagine Stevie Taylor has played his last game for us ;)

  9. 11 points from promotion.

12 mathematically. Although Forest will have to overturn a mahoosive goal swing (+44 against +23) for 11 points not to be enough.

All in all we could be promoted with 4 games to spare. Back in 92/93 we only had a couple in reserve.

Actually 9, by beating Nottingham Forest.

    Correct :icon_lol:

If we beat Forest on Monday and we both win the following two games we'll have 89 points, with a possible maximum of 104 points with 5 games remaining

Forest, if they win their following 2 games, will be on 76, and can only get 88 points with 4 games remaining for them.

    :icon_lol:

Mick Lowes said if we beat Forest on Monday we'll need 2 more wins to be promoted as they wouldnt have enough games/points left to catch us...So if we beat Peterborough and Sheff Utd over Easter that may indeed be that :icon_lol:

  11. Good to see he's starting tbh, he's currently just hit form and his scrap with Taylor is less significant than taking home three points.

I really can't believe what am reading on this forum lately. All i seem to see is a lot of hypocrites. Barton got so much grief when his 'rocky' moments happened, some calling for NUFC to get rid of him. The boo's, the talk on forums etc

And now its Carroll's turn by twating Saylor and breaking his jaw? You's should all be behind Saylor and be giving Carroll shit, not backing him. It seems we're the laughing stock of the nation. Riera expresses his opinion on Liverpool and is transfer listed immediately. Carrol smacks Saylor and keeps him out for the rest of the season, and people are glad he starts? Some need to sort themselves out. I honestly hope someone crunches Carroll tonight and ends his career, because personally I dont want him at the club.

And for those who think they'd rather have Carroll over Saylor? I think some have been blinded by top spot and success and forgotten that we're in the fizzy pop league.

Well that makes you as bad as Carroll then, and while we're at it, wheres the other self righteous brother tonight? :icon_lol:

And if your such an expert on this, what was Carroll doing at the training ground on Sunday, less than 12 hours after playing in Bristol?....something doesnt add up about this, and I think that is why Carroll is playing tonight.

rightly or wrongly, football is a different world to the one the rest of us inhabit....or hadnt you noticed?....

right and wrong still applys though mate, and if he has, he should be shown the door.

ok what exactly happened on Sunday, seeing as you're setting yourself up as judge, jury and executioner?

Theres been a ruck, Taylors got his jaw broke. They are the facts as reported by the press. Beyond that we know nowt. How can you be so sure Carroll should be suspended/sacked/executed with a high velocity rifle? What are you charging Carroll with? What is he pleading? what is he saying in his own defence that may or may not clear himself?

  13. Got a spare for Donny on Tuesday night.....can meet up at Bristol to hand it over, otherwise a mate will have it with him at the game and will be contactable before the match to arrange pick up.

PM me if you fancy it :icon_lol:

    Ticket now gone.

  14. I was hoping this wasn't going to be a death thread. Was a bizare mixture Frank Bruno and an educated Surrey aristocrat, but it was one of the sporting marriages of the 80's, a bit like Jimmy Hill and Terry Venables. Very sad loss to sport he was a truly brilliant commentator, very descriptive and used to commentate on TV events like a radio commentator. I remember when Tyson fought Bruno in 87 I stayed up with 2 of my mates 8 or 9 year old playing subbuteo waiting for the fight, and in the first round Bruno almost knocked Tyson out cue Harry "GO ON THERE FRANK!!!" :icon_lol: good old BBC impartiality. RIP

The son of a wholesale fish merchant at Billingsgate Market,

Quite sad, as the first post says all the great sports broadcasters those of a certain age with will have grown up seem to be popping off.....him and Frank were great together; theyve just said on 5live about when Bruno was in tears after he was beaten for the first time by Bonecrusher Smith and Harry handled him very sensitively.

Is it churlish to say I actually preferred Reg Gutterigde on ITV? :icon_lol:

  15. FWIW I think Andy Carroll is the best in the air since Les.

Probably right although Big Dunc was pretty decent with his head too... and not just on other people.

Andy Carroll is basically a more mobile version of Duncan. I think he's a better player at 21 than Ferguson was at 21. Again, he didnt do a hellish lot yesterday (especially in the first half, but he wasnt alone in that) but he still scored. Some very nice touches in the second half, when he's on his game he's a joy to watch...at this level.....

20 years since I was last at a game at Ashton Gate before yesterday, and that was the last time someone twatted me at a match....sadly, looks like things haven't changed much in Bristol...but in saying that watching 3 or 4 Bristolians scatter about 20 of our lot who were in no doubt "up for it" would've beenin parts funny and shaming, if two of our lads hadnt required hospital treatment, and also those of us who came to their aid received a slap from the returning city fans for their trouble...nice place Bristol :D

I heard there was trouble, what exactly happened? Fuckin Welsh cunts. It's always these non event places, where people are trying and failing to make a name for themselves like Stoke, Burnley, Wolverhampton and Bristol.

Looks like there was an off in the park beside the ground, which was seen off by the poilce, our lot came up out of the park and on to the pavement of a dual carraigeway beside it where we ran into them. Then some of their lot appeared and all these young uns basically legged it, apart from two who turned to have a go and got twatted. No real sympathy for them because they were all looking for a ruck, but its a bit emabarrassing because they got ran by no more than half a dozen of their lot. I dont think it was our lots "top lads"....if it was then theyre a fuckin bunch of bedwetters on that sorry show.

  16. FWIW I think Andy Carroll is the best in the air since Les.
