London havn't had a winner that I can remember. Moscow. Or have they?
Nottingham for smallest, I'd say.
D'you reckon clattermole will have picked up some kind of record for most sendings off in fewest games?
Londons one
theres a city on the continent smaller than Nottingham...won it in the 80s
don't know about Cattatwat but your ripper question wasn't entirely accurate...yes, tonight Matthew I'm going to be a pedantic fucker

Smallest city, Nottingham?
close, but apparently theres one smaller...
-
Got on the train in Bournemouth at 0945, mates got on in Southampton and Reading, bit of a festive jolly boys outing in the snow etc....got to just outside Oxford at midday (already 45mins late) when they made the announcement.....doubt if we'd have made kick off anyway the way things were going. The Norwich fans on the train were lauging their cocks off at us...their game at Coventry went ahead and they fuckin won
-
The seven largest urban areas in Europe have never won a European cup or a champions league in the near 60 year history of Europe's premier club football competition....can you name them?
And what is the smallest city to have won it?

It's quite ironic that that season was probably the only time I can remember the old board spending any money witth Bessant, Thorne, Hendrie and (the massive success that was) John Robertson all coming in.
A cynic might point out that the total amount matched the Beardsley fee.
I suspected that might be case like.
In saying that, it should also be said that the Milburn Stand in it's original form was started the summer Pedro went to Liverpool and was known as the "Beardsley Stand" to some
and this is honestly this I was only 12 but I remember it vividly, the first game of the season was against Leeds and on the way to the ground there were hundreds of blokes with USFC t shirts on basically outright abusing us for going in.Where about were all these blokes stood Stevie?.....because I'm 41 which makes me a fair bit older than you were in August 1989 and I don't remember seeing anything like that whatsover....not saying it didnt happen, but if they were stood outside the Gallowgate I must have missed them.....I think it was a "shut out" that day a well...they closed the turnstiles for some reason (quite a regular occurance back then), even though there was only about 25k in the ground.
-
Just watched the footage of the press conference again and I had this awful sense of fuckin shame whilst doing so. I wouldn't go down the road of the "a once fine, proud football club" bollocks but when I look at that silly cunt Pardew sat there on his own, without any back up whatsoever from the fuckers who appointed him I just fell ashamed to be associated with what NUFC have been turned into under Ashley. Never thought I'd ever say that I was ashamed of the club
-
My mates old man works at St Mary's and he reckons Pardew was lancing a married member of staff there too......hence the "poor staff moral" cited as one of the reasons he was jettisoned after a 4 nil win against Bristol Rovers
-
Simon Bird muses on Pardew's possible salary and back room staff.....Ray Lewington anybody?

That's me gone at the end of the season until the fat bastard is gone. Unfortunately it's the only language he speaks, money. And he is so obviously antagonising us it's untrue, even those who stuck their neck out backing him must surely realise this now.
I don't know what else I can do? Nothing he owns (including the club) has had a penny out of me for the last 2 years already.
I feel like washing my hands completely but know I'll not be able to. He's ripping the heart out of the club for me - quite literally.
He's got his ST money from me and nothing else. Last year he didn't get that, just went with a fellow posters ST or bought a ticket match by match, next year he won't even get the match by match money. I've had enough of the pair of cunts. They'll get NOTHING from me other than they've already got.
spoken to lots of mates tonight saying the same thing......I've had a season ticket for the best part of 20 years and have never lived closer than 60 miles from SJP and this has fuckin finished me too.
Cheers Davey it's been a blast

According to wiki Martin's middle name is Cornelius
-
Might be Jol.
If rumours are true bout him leaving ajax
just confirmed on Sky......hmmm....
-
With the benefit of hindsight, he was going around the time of the mackems game, twatting them bought him a months grace. For saving Ashley's investment last season with his ability to get some questionable characters/egos in the changing room all moving in the same direction this is the thanks he's got. He was probably a dead man walking after the Ipswich game last season tbh, but what sort of fuckin wanker Ashley thought he would get to do a better job this season given our owner's brand of stewardship is anyone's guess. Ashley lives or dies by this decision, if we go down again the protests after the Keegan debacle will look like a smooth ride. Cunt of the first order.
Maybe Ashleys thinks we'll be placated if he appoints Pedro full time. Anoither fuckin huge misjudgement/gamble and compleltely contrary to the weasel worded statement that accompanied Chris's dismissal. So it may well be Pardew. God fuckin help us.

650 declared and then bowl fuck out of them for the next 2 days!
Aye, can I please appeal for absolutely no mercy to be shown? Some sympathy being expressed by Gower/Atherton for Poontang because of his woefully inadequate bowlers. Good, they're fucking shit so lets have a laugh at smashing them everywhere. Australia wouldn't give you the steam off their piss back in the day, they'd hammer you for any weakness and are the vilest sore losers on the planet if things dont go for them, so get them battered please.
Thing is theyve lost all their brilliant ruthless bastards, some of the greatest cricketers ever to step over a boundary rope.....Warne,Gilchrist,McGrath,Hayden,the Waughs, even Punter himself is reckoned to be the something like the third best Aussie batsman ever, regardless of his captaincy skills. This day was always coming. Just hope the weather holds off enough to really humilliate them

Some of the knee-jerking going on in this thread is OTT. Russia was a stitch-up and to me the far more egregious problem. Qatar is an attempt to choose a new frontier for the game, to give something positive to a region where there are relatively few positives, and to show that FIFA are capable of progress. I don't doubt that money played a massive part, but ffs, it's 2010 and some on here are writing off a World Cup that won't happen for 12 years.
I think the Qatari WC will be a true spectacle. The country's administration clearly has ambition and they will spare no expense to make this a success. So much can change in 12 years in a country like Qatar. 12 years ago, it was a shadow of itself; 12 years before that it was a desert. Why don't we wait and see?
I tell you something if Qatar can host a WC Scotland can. It's a disgrace.
Scotland can't host a world cup because they dont meet the criteria....that being the financial ability to buy off fifa and the actual finance to put the tournament on. It's all about making money for fifa and they will give the tournament to the country who they will make the most from, legally or illegally.
Not legally mate, not legally. It was an accepted fact that England's bid was by far the most economically viable, and profitable.
Yeah fifa probably accept that but then ask themsleves "well whats in it for us?" which is where we fall down by being pretty straight and principled. Thats why I couldnt get too upset about the MPs expenses "scandal" last year....we have the straightest public figures on the planet, regardless of the monor ways in which they step out of line.

It may also be something to do with the fact that England aren't particularly well liked around the world.
Also, Jack Warner appears to have stitched them up big time.
Why would the kickback hungry and profiteering members of the fifa executive comittee want a World Cup held in a country that already has all its stadiums built?
They can also play the "first time in Eastern Europe" card
They also get to meet the future King of the United Kingdom, have their and their wives photo's taken with him, shake him by the hand and look him in the eye, and then blatantly lie to him. And to David Beckham. But he's a cock sucking coroporate whore who deserves everything he gets

Will Andy Carroll be too old for Qatar 2022?...there must be lads in youth teams everywhere getting the factor gooosefat out as we speak. If you're at the peak of your career around then you're going to be well chuffed with the global stage for you to display your talents turning out to be a fuckin desert in the middle of nowhere with playing temperatures of around 40 degrees...and Blatter and his corrupt fuckin henchmen are likely to be dead by then

Heard a rumour....
Anyone know if its true that fifa dont pay any tax, at all, in the country that wins the world cup bid?
I think the profit in South Africa for fifa was about 300 million quid, as you say, tax free
all hail Sepp's happy "football family"

Theres one more small city who won it in the 80s
The other large city is very much in the east....not the middle east though..
