But the Spanish/Portuguese bid has 12 votes in the bag apparently, which is the compromise between us and Russia, and it looks like even fifa cant face handidng their showpeice event to the mafia.

Just going on what 5live were saying like. We're by far the best bid but thats irrelevent really. Its politics thats decides it, not ability to dleiver a top class tournament.
It'll be intersesting to see the African teams' reception in Moscow or Madrid if they are succcessful. There are still dozens of match going morons in this country but at least theyve been shamed into silence. Not so everywhere though

I think Gibbo is a bit like Kenwright at Everton.....they know that the type of fan who will turn up week in week out regardless of what they're being served up wont have a word said against them because "they're fans too"....it gives them just enough backing and makes them reasonably happy to stay in charge because, well, they're in charge
Don't know if Gibbo would sell,don't know who'd want them, but Kenwright wouldnt in a million years though. He gets asked every year at the Everton agm what price he'd accept and always ignores the question
Gibbo tried to go with Southgate and the kids that came through the youth team, which was admirable in a way. Probably thought a season or two in divi 2 would see them ok. Didnt work, enter Strachan who was a fuckin disaster. Difficult to tell what'll happen now. Thought they looked good against us at their place last season. The Aussie up front and Barry Robson ran the show I thought.

In saying that, Wenger's done well to keep them in the champs lge places whilst theyve built, moved to and started to pay for a brand new ground.

Don't think we should overrate this poor performance, just as well as we shouldn't overrate away wins against Arsenal and Everton. Spurs have conceded four here as well.
Next up are Chelsea (H), WBA (A) and Liverpool (H). The way the season's going we could get anything between 0 and 7 points. Important is the points tally at the end of December - would be happy to have 25.

So fucking what? It cost me £47 to see Spurs beat us 1-0 in our relegation season at White Hart Lane. It's supposed to be your best team for 50 years, either way less than 1000 is very very poor.
We took much more than that for a mid week carling cup game!
Anyway lets not go down this road, good result but the biggest shock was how poor they were - not how good you were.

Difficult to chose between Bleach and Nevermind....both fantastic for different reasons.
Was lucky to see them at the long gone Calton Studios in Edinburgh in 91.....500 capacity venue for a band that had had "smells like teen spirit" played every 10 minutes on MTV for the previous 3 months....there was a near riot outside, fuckin dangerous getting in.
