Our tactics at the match today was to play 8 players on the edge of our area (from the kick off to the final whistle) and 50 yards up the field to play Shearer and Owen. How the fuck are you going to create chances for these two.
I had argument after argument saying that Souness' reign starts from now (when everybody else said that it started 12 months ago), but no matter who he brings in he is a complete waste of space.
What manager in his right mind would play such a defensive formation at home to one of the shitist teams in the league.
I really want to support Souness but how the fuck can I when we play as negative and as shit as we did today?
Fortune favours the brave? Were like timid fuckin kittens against shit opposition that should be mauled.
If we were playin away to Real Madrid I could accept camping out on were own penalty area, but against a shit team who we made look good and we owed them big style for last season is unacceptable.
He will have excuses about injuries etc, but who doesn't. I say sack this complete overpaid pile of useless crap now before our own supporters start looking for the rope.
i didn't see it that way,but through injuries etc he was forced into playing those players,,faye for clarke and anyone for carr would have been my changes...will he get to see his first 11 ?
Good post B&W, we will never win anything with an 8 2 formation, and I just watched the howlers again on MOTD, even with 8 defenders we were crap, still need LB and RB and a whole lot more.
So Shakermaker you think he will get better with his first choice of 11 players all fit and raring to go. Get REAL, FACT is that NUFC have a back room staff that manages to produce prolific amounts of injuries, like hamstring, muscle tears and so on.... And because of this IMHO even if he remained at the club he will never be in a position to field his best 11. We have a comparatively small unbalanced squad of players that can't fit in even when we have injuries.
Only when the total fuckwit is gone and we have a manager who can manage what is a reasonable team of players will we see any real changes and the benefit from some of the signings he has made. You can't fault some of the signings, but based on the amount we paid, any fool could sign these players at inflated prices.
FACT again he has been given £50m to produce a team that will finish in the top 6, under his management and backroom staff.......... no fucking chance.
NO POINT in even trying to convince you otherwise, you seem to have this blind faith that is prepared to back a loser.

Spot on PAPA, some of these so called fans that are putting their faith and getting behind SOURNESS must watch a different game to me. From day 1 I have been against the appointment of SOURNESS and have repeatedly posted this, I am now more than ever convinced that this fuckwit should be peddled before any more damage is done. Just remind me where we are in the league after 5 games?
I will be at BBR next week and I fear for the result. I want us to win but i think that this is just expecting too much, just watch the BBR fans take the Piss.

Related to this topic. Are the club physios fully qualified doctors or just physiotherapists?
In Germany most teams (if not all) have fully qualified medical staff on the bench. Especially for muscle injuries the treatment in the first 20 minutes is most important for the length of healing process (according to the Bayern team doc and specialist Müller-Wohlfahrt).
I'd bet we don't have the level of qualifications we should at the club. And when you think of the millions spent on aquiring and wages for these players we should have the bloody cream of Harley Street looking after them.
Its always a problem at St. James often willign to push the boat out for palyers, but not so much for coaching, back room staff and the like.
Any wonder with the likes of Murray and Saunders heading up the backroom staff. Would you trust and put your faith in these guys?

You have to look at it very simply, the league and your position in that league is measured by the games that you play, it does'nt matter whether it's the local Pub league or the premier league, that is the measure.
FACT is we finished as well as we played in the previous 4 seasons.
FACT is last season we were in decline and if you continue the results over each season we would be relegation material right now.
FACT is that is where we are right now, relegation material.
FACT is I won't defend SOURNESS because he can't excuse the place in the table right now. I don't want to harp on about his bold statements when he joined the club or the excuses when things were going wrong and the
FACT that in his opinion he should be measured on a full season.
FACT is we have started that full season and wait for positive results.
FACT is he'll be with us until end of the season so we have to give the TEAM our devoted and ultimate support.
FACT is if he can't make it with tis team then he will be justifiably be SACKED.

Spot on SM, when will some of you realise we just don't have the squad to support any real tactics. Not that SOURNESS understands or can even spell the word tactics. SOURNESS has totally put the team out of balance, not to mention his suicidal ideas of playing guys when they're simply not fit. That was obvious yesterday with Dire and Emre and look who turned up in their place when they had to go off.

Souness has my sympathies regarding getting players in, its obvious FFS hasn't been going all out this summer.
However from the few games I've seen this season he seems to be more interested in not losing than winning, packing the midfield is evidence to that.
Maybe he is trying to build from the back, maybe he is trying to consolidate and achieve a respectable position or maybe he is just not the right man for us. Whatever the position I'm not confident of having him in charge.
I don't go to many matches so I can't speak for those at the game but it seems to me that many fans are looking at the alternatives and can't see much light so we are accepting the tripe being served to us.
The Fat Controller has given fuckwit SOURNESS £30+ million over the past 12 months, that to me says the Fat Controller has given his manager a great deal of backing. I can have no sympathy for SOURNESS mismanaging that cash and team affairs, I can only sympatise with us, the fans who put up with this week in and week out.
WE should not accept mediochrity.

You are so right, it can't be week in week out, he's injured more often than not. That makes me more angry to see a reported £80k per week going down the drain, totally wasteful.

Parker and Taylor were class, not one of the rest would I give more than 5, average performnce to downright crap, can't be bothered to even give some of them a mark.....£80.000 per week for a fucking crock does not rate a 1.

I agree it would have had an influence on their valuation, especially where Bellamy is concerned...
But as I said about Robert, even at a knockdown price only 3 clubs were interested, now surely if Robert was as good as some seem to think he was in his last few seasons here then wouldn't several clubs have been in for him? especially for free...
For instance if Duff (example) became available at a knockdown price because he'd fell out with Mourinho, who then went and told the press he was a good player but was lazy and didn't pull his weight, do you honestly think hardly any clubs would be interested in signing him?

I don't believe for one moment that many managers value Sourness' opinion, and it was not Sourness' opinion that influenced any of the prices.
We all know Sourness' man management track record and add to that the shit that emanated from NUFC regarding the bad boys' influence, the desruptive dressing room etc etc,. This all had a part to play and remember it was not only Sourness that this came from, when the press got hold of the stories the press had a field day. We were in the news daily and often for all the wrong reasons. These are some of the reasons they were given away or even went on the cheap, but TBH other managers do take note of the "goings on" at other clubs.
No, you're totally right, SOURNESS cannot claim excusivity to this one, It's a TFD from start to finish.

Balls to Shepherd deciding how much to let Bellamy and Robert go for ? His hand was forced, and everyone knew we wanted rid of them no matter what. Who is responsible for that ? Who do you think, with your vast knowledge of the club, was responsible for Bellamy being told he had an extra week off pre season training [because he didn't want him back at the training ground].
I half agree with what you're saying, The manager made it obvious he wanted rid and they wouldn't feature in his plans this season so Shephard had to sell them for whatever he could...
However even though it was made clear Robert was available at a knockdown price he still only managed to attract serious interest from Pompey, Bolton and Troyes - perhaps this represents his true worth from a non Newcastle point of view.

Look, I'm as disappointed as the rest of you. But to say things like it's his club the moment he took over is foolish. You all knew that the squad was weak and paper-thin when he took over. You also knew that we needed defenders. So what could he do? Build from the back. I know that when Bobby was manager, there used to be times when every attack against us looked like it could result in a goal.
Tactics are nothing when your team flounce about, shouting their mouths off and refusing to play. Top players won't sign for us when SBR was manager, so to act as if all this is a more recent thing is a tad naive.
Yes, we're playing shite at the moment but for crying out loud. Give the man some breathing space, will you?
However. I have said this before, and I'll say it again. If the team continues to be shite (starting from after the Man U. game, because I know we'll be hammered) I know where my loyalties will lie, and it won't be with the management.

The squad that SBR left SOURNESS was IMO showing the cracks and weaknesses and so was SBR, and nobody can deny that. SOURNESS was the only manager that put his hat in the ring at the time, and as I recall, most other options turned us down.
Look, he was given the dosh to strengthen from day 1, the Fat Controller backed him all the way with dosh, £30+million in 12 months is a lot of money to buy decent players, and I guess we've got a few now.
To say he should be measured on his performance after the Man Ure game is bollocks, he should be measured after every game, you can't say we'll get hammered so that one does not count, every game counts. Each game represents 0,1 or even 3 points.

The day Sourness took over at this club the team was his, no one elses. Part of his job was to sort out the dressing room, but I would also argue that he should manage the club to the best of his ability.
FACT is his ability is just not good enough, he has rid the dressing room of the desruptive influence only to add more players of his own choosing, so whichever way you look at it, the team management was his responsibility from the day he joined and in the past 12 months we have regularly moved down the table.
But never mind this is acceptable and we will give the team our undying support, but hey fellas, does'nt stop us from having our own opinions, at least we can, SOURNESS' team members can't. They get thrown out for having views, or even bullied, now that's good mismanagement.

On the ins and outs there is no doubt that the Fat Controller has backed Sourness but what concerns me is that some of the cash that was splashed could have been better distributed and the cash that came our way was somewhat less than the true valuation of the players.
Iguess that happens when you're desperate and generally talk down and ridicule your playing staff. We all know who is responsible for this and it is not the Fat Controller, it's the man in charge of team affairs, SOURNESS.

FACT is we don't try hard enough, just look at how many tackles made any sense or purpose, just look at our passing ability, we have recruited a midget to hold down the number 10 shirt and we continue to try and punt a high ball into the box, Owen likes the ball at his feet, can't our players understand this. Mind you with 8 defenders that feared to cross the halfway line yesterday I'm not surprised Owen and Shearer were starved of any service. TBH we were crap................no, we did not try too hard, we simply did'nt try hard enough.
