2003 side, or 2005?

Given, Hughes, Bernard, O'Brien, Woodgate, Solano, Robert, Dyer, Speed, Bellamy & Shearer.

or,

Given, Carr, Babayaro, Taylor, Boumsong, Dyer, Luque, Emre, Parker, (new striker) & Shearer.

For me, barring the full-backs and Shearer of 2003 being much better than in 2005, the current best XI is a lot better than that side IMO.

One problem being the 2005 side has two injury prone fullbacks and relies massively on Dyer's pace when he is also injury prone. Also we don't have Another striker yet.

And one crucial difference is the managers in question whch makes a great variation on how well they'd do, as well as the formations being played.

And i'd have Bramble not OB in the first team.

Hmmm, not too sure as we still don't have a striker.

A combination could be tasty though!!

----------Shearer----Bellamy----------

Luque----Parker------Emre-----Solano

Bernard-Woodgate-Boumsong-Carr

-----------------Given-----------------

That is assuming that Luque is better than Robert.

Assuming like you say Luque is better, if not then Robert back in and assuming its the 2003 Shearer then that is a good team!

Robson was in charge for 30 months before we finished top half under him, let's see if Souness can be anywhere near that position after 30 months.

I was very tempted to give you an Ugly Makems response here.

I will just say that you are mad for suggesting such a thing and leave it at that.

Bobby took over a mess, Souness took over a top 6 side that needed freshening up, some motivation and a few players in and out. Bobby was always going to need time to achieve anything, Souness should with that squad and a transfer window have finsihed no lower than 6th or else he'd failed, to do what he did was shite.
