Bought an original vinyl copy of Dark Side of the Moon since it turned 50 this month and despite it being probably my favourite album of all time I've never actually owned a copy of it myself.

When I moved in to Fist Hall, I found a box of old vinyl in the attic.
Most of it was absolute shite, but there was a pristine 1967/68 2nd pressing of Sgt. Peppers, with all the cutout cards and everything.
I asked the previous owner if they wanted it but they weren’t bothered.

This also came with Mrs. Fist as part of her dowry

There's an anniversary edition out, >£200 though 😆

The new live edition is only £20 on Amazon though..tempted by that…

Saw the live version in a shop the other day and was very tempted! Really like the cover with the "concept art" version of the final design on it.

I’ve got all the father in laws 60s vinyl now, Dylan, Stones, Beatles, Led Zep all in excellent condition, the best is a mono copy of the Spencer Davis Group group first album :D

Nah I'm not a collector, I occasionally get bought vinyls as presents which make up my entire meagre catalogue until I bought this today.

Getting DSotM was more of a "I really should own this" thing than any real desire to have more vinyl or anything.

Growing up, loads of my mates were into Pink Floyd. But I never really got them. The exception to that is Dark Side of the Moon. Quality from start to finish

I’ve got a load of old vinyls by the cure, I was dead into them when I was younger. Don’t think I even have a record player anymore.

Happy to send them to someone if anyone wants them?

You should add Led Zep III too, with the “interactive” cover.

True to form, my mum has just busted out her original first edition all the bells and whistles pressing to put me in my place.

Even has the posters in absolute mint condition...bitch

That's a bit surprising tbh because being a stoner and liking Pink Floyd was practically de rigueur I would have thought. Not just DSotM, although that is the ultimate, but loads of stuff from that period. Wish you were here is still one of my favourites. I remember listeing to shne on you crazy diamond on a loop, and I could never tell if it was "like black holes in the sky" or "black like holes in the sky" under my canabinoid stupor. Now with the benefits of the internet, I can see it's the former although I still prefer the latter. I'm putting this on now as my nostalgia fix for the day.

🎵Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky
Shine on you crazy diamond🎶

Just listening to "Time" there. These verses are fucking brilliant, nail on the head stuff. Not cheering me up much though.

Quote
And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

You back on the shrooms?

:lol:it's a line from a tune from the coldcut mixtape - do you know it? it's probably the greatest of all time.

absolute genius - all done in one live take on turntables too. no prost-production cleaning up and goes through about as many genres as you can think of - dnb, house, techno. funk. hiphop, triphop, ambient, and dr who
