The UEFA Appeals Body has excluded Dutch club Feyenoord from the 2006/07 UEFA Cup following crowd disturbances by its fans at the UEFA Cup group-stage match against AS Nancy-Lorraine in France on 30 November last year.

Tougher sanction

UEFA announced on Friday that the Appeals Body had toughened its sanction against the Rotterdam team, by excluding Feyenoord from all of this season's UEFA competitions - including the current UEFA Cup, in which Feyenoord had progressed from the group stage to face England's Tottenham Hotspur FC in the Round of 32. The initial fine of CHF 200,000 (€123,615) was reduced to CHF 100,000 (€61,810).

UEFA appeal

The decision follows an appeal made by UEFA in accordance with Article 50 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, whereby "the parties directly concerned and UEFA have the power to appeal", after an initial decision by the body of first instance, the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body, on 7 December last year. The first decision comprised a fine of CHF 200,000 and a suspended sentence of two matches behind closed doors, on probation for three years.

Feyenoord appeal rejected

The appeal by Feyenoord against the original punishment handed down by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body was rejected. Feyenoord were also ordered to contact Nancy regarding settlement of the damages.

How lucky can a club be? They get an absolutely piss easy draw, now they're the first club in the last 16 without even playing a game?!?!

Thats crazy, why don't the team that just missed out in Feyenoord's group go through?

The game is in two weeks, and they reckon it would devalue the competition further if a team who came 4th in a group is in the next game.

Officially they're deciding on Monday, but it's obvious they'll get through. If it was a big club they'd think about it, but who's going to be arsed about WISLA KRAKOW.

They will appeal and UEFA will reinstate them.

No chance, none at all.

Wouldn't be the first time UEFA make a statement and then go back on it a couple of days later

Aye but Feyenoord fans are cunts, as many toon fans can vouch for first hand, UEFA will teach them a lesson, most huge ports have a large percentage of cunts, Liverpool, Aberdeen, Portsmouth etc... and Rotterdam is the biggest port in Europe.

Of course, this gives us a real opportunity to dump Spurs out the UEFA...eh Stevie lad? All we need to do is bungle our way down to WHL dressed as Spurs casuals...cause a ruckus, then get Spurs chucked out too.

Simple. :baby:

Not sure, they could destroy an absolutely woeful team on their home patch and still lose 3-2. But no, they're lucky aren't they?

Yeah, terrible luck when you miss chances you're paid to score, the keeper saves shots as he's meant to and you get away with an offside opening goal and a blatant sending off, they're just cursed wiht bad luck aren't they!

Woeful luck tbh

Not their fault the officials were inept. You saying we weren't lucky last Sunday?

Its a myth usually put about my losing managers after a match, i thought as chief cynic on this board you wouldn't swallow it from them!

If you dominate for 90 mins and piss away your chances, or the opposition keeper and defender keep you out and do their job it has nowt to do with luck. If the other team has one single shot on target but scores, its not luck, they did their job and you didn't.

If a ref shafts your team then yes you can say you didn't get what you deserved, or some incredibly flukey deflection maybe, but anythign other than that and you get the score you deserve.

Possibility that they may give the bye to the highest seeded team remaining in the competition.

That's us.

You've just made that up.

I'm sure that UEFA haven't quite decided what to do yet. There is always the school of thought that if a team was to get a bye, it should be the best team in the competition.
