...he's surely learned a few huge lessons over the last few seasons. Is it possible that he may become a better chairman for it?

We all learn from our mistakes...it would seem fair that the guy should be given the chance to get it right.

I'm going to reserve judgement until the start of the next season to see what he has learned (if anything). Presumably we'll have a reasonable transfer kitty.....

Nah...I'm just open minded. I don't feel the need to take up a position and then stay there despite evidence to the contrary.

The fact is that most times, people get a honeymoon period. A feeling of hope surrounds the new appointment and people cross their fingers that it's all going to be better now.

The fact is, the reverse is probably true. The longer someone stays in a position, the better they are likely to get (up to a point). The trouble is that the public want quick fixes.

I'm just suggesting that it's possible that Shepherd and Roeder could take the club in a better direction over the next few seasons. Any new broom is going to do SOME things better, but not necessarily ALL. By the time the "new" fuckups are revealed, it's time for a new hope and a new candidate when in reality the old one was probably starting to turn things around.

I don't expect many here to agree BTW.

Learned a lesson? By failing to address the squad issue again, despite a window of opportunity being open to do so? Don't be fooled by talk of prudence, policy, new plans etc. He's just covering his own arse and talking shite. I'll believe it when I see it.

How many more years are people going to bring up that line? I said that 3 years ago and regretted it. It's been the same every year since!

the clue is in the fact every statement out of his fat arse claiming at the start of every new season NUFC are now doing something to correct something bad, the something bad was of the own fat fookers making

That's actually a very good point, if it weren't for their fuck-ups in the first place they wouldn't be making these "we'll fix things" statements.

The true test of Shepherd is this: Yes he is a newcastle fan but is he making a personal profit out of the club or does he love the club so much that he makes or takes nothing financially out of the club??? I dont know the answer but I hear off various people that he has made lots of money at our expense? I hope im wrong??

Between him and the Hall's it's allegedly around 40M.

That speaks louder volumes that his "fan" status tbh.

Freddie spent too much at the wrong time (Souness era) and too little at the right time (summer 04).

He sacked Robson at the wrong time and appointed the wrong man to replace him.

Things could have been a lot different. The Bellamy goal to get us through to the second round of CL league games was not without fortune. Also Shearer putting his penalty over the bar against Partizan Belgrade wasn't in the script.

These things can never be repeated...I'm just suggesting that as odious as FFS can be, I don't believe he's so stupid that he hasn't learned from them.

So we didn't buy enough in Summer 04, and we haven't bought enough again this season? How come you think he's learned from his mistakes?

I think we'd overspent recently and therefore had to have a season or so of being careful. It's fairly obvious we're not going to get relegated and therefore we *should* have a more active summer window. I don't think it was such a bad idea to not bring people in this January. The choice available was a lot less than it will be in the summer. That's why I said I'd reserve judgement until the end of the summer transfer window.

If they mess that up though, my hard hitting sig will be back in full effect. Possibly even in an angrier colour. I'm not messing. No sir.

I'm still :blink::P:angry: at....

Presumably we'll have a reasonable transfer kitty.....

Why wouldn't we?

Because we're £80m in debt?

Debts aren't necessarily a bad thing though, it depends how much they cost to service...

I'm sure we're not the only club with debt.

In what way could being that much in debt not be construed as a bad thing? :suicide:

But we are that skint that £8 million has been received relating to advance sponsorship for FUTURE years (page 17 of the accounts) and in Jan 2008 MGM Mirage will probably want their £5 mill back after the recent casino refusal (page 50)

So don't expect that £30 mill extra from Sky all to be lashed out on players in the summer, there's some cash flow issues to be sorted out!!

Planning of a financial nature eh? :o

Is that meant to absolve the current board of blame for throwing money at an idiot like Souness? Who the fuck got us into this position? Backatcha.

It depends on how much your assets/turnover/projected income are. I'm not saying it's ideal, but a good business doesn't necessarily have to be debt free. It depends how much better off you are by borrowing money and investing in stock.

One of the most incorrect statements ever. Look at Souness made the same mistakes at NUFC he did with the Huns.

Look at the Americans. How many Vietnams do they want. Non interference policy my arse. Look at Bramble. People can be srial mistake makers. Maybe he isn't making mistakes. Maybe he has a psychological need to hurt us. Perhaps he was bullied as a kid and is taking millions out of the club at the same time as presiding over our fall from grace. (And it is a fall from graces no matter what shit leazesmag spouts. When he took over we were firmly one of the top 4 clubs with millions coming in. Now we are a mid table club if that trying every year to scrape into the uefa cup with inter two bob acceptance.) to get back at someone from his past.

One thing is certain. He is not doing everything in the best interests of the club or the fans. To FFS FFS will always come first. Ask his wife and all those hookers.
