The dude on talksport has just mentioned this book and said it had rave reviews.

Anyone read it?

I read it a few years ago and thought it was SHIT! Full of over-the-top (no pun intended) descriptions of feelings/situations and the main guy seemed to be going down the mines every other fucking day.

Well?

On my bookshelf, haven't got round to it. The lass bought if for some reason (doubt she'll ever read it tbh). Might give it a miss now. Life's too short.

I read it a few years ago and thought it was excellent (except the end was a bit corny). It was good enough to make me read several other Sebastian Faulks books subsequently. Similar sort of style to Ian McEwan - not as good but still worth a read IMO.
