Sports injury

OK, so "sports injury" is stretching it a bit but me leg's fucked. Went bowling on Tuesday and felt fine afterwards, although I hurt my leg slightly when I went down hard on my knee after taking a shot. Woke up the next morning and my leg was killing me, sort of like when you go running after doing nowt for a while and wake up stiff (no, not like that).

3 days later and it's not much better. I can walk at a normal pace only looking a little like a mong but stairs and inclines make me look like a right pillock. If I try and walk fast or run it knacks and looks like I'm in a three legged race with the invisible man. If I'm just walking normally it doesn't really hurt but my knee feels 'wobbly' and the leg generally feels weak and like it could buckle under me. If I bend my leg further the front of my thigh knacks. and my left bum cheek hurts as well. Putting pressure on the right side of my knee or the top of my thigh with my thumb also hurts.

Sitting still is usually comfortable, but sometimes soemthing in my knee rapidly twitches like when a nerve in your eyelid goes mental twitchy (or does that just happen to me?)

Is it just a case of waiting for it to go away or have a knacked something and I should be resting it? I've just been walking on it normally so far.

Not sure about the knee, but the sore arse/thigh sounds like the result of doing a fairly unnatural movement - i.e. bowling - that you don't normally do. I was like this after my first go on Wii Sports.

Must say I cannot imagine you on one of those Tendo Wii's. :D

Bottom line is you need to get this checked out at your GPs, a walk in centre, or A&E. I'd go for the walk in centre personally, there's one near the centre for life. They'll triage you and assess if you need investigation. The bit that is a worry is your knee feeling unstable. Could be a sign you have knacked your cruciate ligaments.

Cool, I'll give it a try. Although I've got a pub crawl to get out of the way first

Cheers for the help!

A swiss army knife and some twine should be enough to fix a cruciate ligament damage.

Metro pub crawl and a 16 hour bender dressed as an idiot sorted it out, much better now - That's what they should have done for Owen instead of this fannying about with Yankie doctors.

I'd still visit a doctor if it's not totally cured yet and the feeling of instability is still there. I was running around with a damaged cruciate ligament for a couple of years...

My knee gives me jip after I've been playing on it, has done for the last 2 months. Went to Drs, had an x-ray, heard nowt!

Aye, well an X-ray can't detect a soft tissue injury, you time waster.

She thought it might be floating bone, I'm down for physio anyway. So I expect to get to the top of the list by 2009.

Does this mean, you don't get you x-ray results immediately? And can't you just walk in at a physio? Is the British health system really that crap?

I was told the Dr would have them in 'around 10 days'. You can walk in for physio, but it'll cost you.

Oy, the NHS is brilliant unless you have something minor, like severe pain.

Ridiculous tbh. I always laugh when our politicians moan about our health system. The result of the x-ray should rather be there within ten minutes, not ten days.

Just going straight to the physio might cost you 10 Euro down here, but only if you don't have a referral from your family doctor.

The only time I had to wait was when I had my operation done by some specialist, where I had to wait three months. I could have got it done immediately at the local hospital (who are probably as good) though. In fact I let them made a check before where they already gave me the forms to sign for the operation within the next days.

Efficiency rules!

I can just see Steve scratching his head and taking 10 days to work out which bone is the tibia tbh.

Well, at least it didn't take our veterans very long to walk upright again...
