What narks me

How come Reading can go to bolton and win 3-1 - allegedly being a fairly lightweight footballing team who can be out muscled by the more agricultural teams in the division.

So therefore when we play bolton we always hear the same thing about winning the battles and fighting hard and we ALWAYS get turned over.

Its bollocks thats why-Reading are organised, play at a good tempo and can pass a ball which to me would be an essential quality that any premier league team should have.

All this crap about battlers not bottlers and rolling your sleeves up that GR comes out with reminds me of Terry Butcher in the death throes of his management at Blunderland - bloody clueless

You need ability, tactics and commitment Glenn thats all

They do have a core of players who have played together for years. Few players in that team were there back in the old Divison 2.

Be alot different for Reading next season depending on who they sign in the summer.

Glad Bikey's loan has been made permanent though. He's been looking quite handy bar the odd error now he's a regular.

Reading aren't lightweights. They got where they are by effort & application.

Agreed...

They're very much the 'breath of fresh air' that we were 13 years ago :nufc:

First season in the Premiership we went to the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, Spurs & Everton and won comfortably.

We went to places like Man Utd & Leeds and earned decent draws.

Wigan were the same in their first season with the likes of Teale, McCulloch, Kavanagh, McMillan etc. This season its looking like the so called bigger names are not working out and it looks very likely that they could go down.

A lot of teams come up and do well for a season or two, but it's the longterm that's the hard bit (even in Newcastle case really :nufc:).

Sunderland finished 7th not so long ago, look at their last foray into the Premiership. Ipswich qualifed for the UEFA cup and were then relegated the next season. It happens all the time.

It happened a couple of times in the Jorman league as well. A team gets promoted and is able keep on the momentum for a season. In the second season reality settles in and players lose the confidence quickly. IMHO it proves how much is down to psychology and how important it is to keep players happy.
