"Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore is under investigation by the U.S. Treasury Department for taking ailing Sept. 11 rescue workers to Cuba for a segment in his upcoming health-care documentary "Sicko," The Associated Press has learned.

The investigation provides another contentious lead-in for a provocative film by Moore, a fierce critic of President Bush. In the past, Moore's adversaries have fanned publicity that helped the filmmaker create a new brand of opinionated blockbuster documentary. "

Had to come, they have been looking for a reason to fuck him up for a few years now.

Agree with the last two points. That thing he used to do on BBC 2 was good though. TV Nation? And we need people like him.

I'll add "Wish he could write well" to that list. Suppose it's good that someone like him's around though, a Fox News-style oversimplifier for the left.

I read one of his books ages ago. 'Downsize This'. It was ok.

"Stupid White Men" really pissed me off. I thought the title was meant to refer to the subject matter, not the target audience (and the whole thing was weirdly me-me-me all the way through, but I suppose that's just his style). Will give him another chance if I see one of his other books in the wasteland that is Lewisham Library though.

Stupid White Men makes some good points but it really pissed me off. Particularly when his solution to problems with former Yugoslavia was to threaten to bomb the fuck out of them if they didn't behave. And his take on the troubles in Ireland was equally naiive, uninformed and arrogant.

Going off the book I read I'm guessing he was taking the piss there. Either that or he really does think OJ Simpson was innocent and that Bavaria instead of the Middle East is where the Jewish homeland should have been created after WWII.

Well he wasn't altogether being serious but it's the kind of nonsense that isn't helping anyone really.

Got a good review from Fox News

Seems like he's got them by the bollocks so much on some of this that even a fair amount of republicans are agreeing with the basica premise of the film so as not to look like right knackers.

He's kept at it for quite a while now, hats off to him.

A woman goes to a hospital for help and they refuse to help her, most likely due to an insurance issue. She then calls 9-11 to go to a hospital where she is covered. The ambulance refuses to pick her up because she is already at a hospital. She dies. But at least America is free from the evils of a commiesocialistpinko health system.

That is terrible story and genuinely sad to hear.
