Quite like that Burial shit but it's just like proto jungle / d n b people were doing years ago (20+ years ago as well).Only not as good imo. Same with the stuff Dr. G posted. It's decent but a bit dull and akin to Bukem's old stuff. And he was overrated tbh.

i don't think bukem was over rated. i used to love the good looking crew. when conrad starts spitting over the western it still sends shivers up the back of my spine, almost 20 years later. obvioulsy the production has moved on massively when you look at the calibre stuff i posted. the main thing that strikes me is how much faster new dnb is

Very solid list mate. Very solid.

reg Radiohead see my question reg MBV.

Personally would allow it as I would allow Massive attack and Portishead. ;) 90% machine based.

I need them IN ORDER for my purposes 2Jeeps.

I've got the album with that on Dr. G. (the Bukem thing). It's a canny tune but it doesn't really make me nuts tingle. And stuff like Horizons by him was lauded but it's basically really good for about 2 mins then you get no progression in the tune and it's the same break beat / loop for about another 10 mins. He was a better DJ than a producer imo. I like that mellow jazzy drum and bass thing but it's a bit dull if it isn't undercut with more complex breaks and basslines. All personal taste of course. Goldie, for example, when he was with Rob Playford, was doing much better stuff for me.

And my list is quite similar to 2Js. He lent half the CDs off me though ;)

Can you put them in order? I know it's hard but needed for my puroses. Nice to see Goldie and 8o8 state in there. :)

**Thought the roni size was over-hyped at the time. ;)

Colin Dale's Outer Limits Volume 1

B12 - Electro Soma

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Black Dog Productions - Bytes

Autechre - Amber

Gas - em:t0095

Amorphous Androgynous - Tales of Ephidrina

Orbtial - Snivilisation

Irresistible Force - It's Tomorrow Already

Robert Leiner - Visions of the Past

Speedy J - Ginger

Carl Craig - More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children

KLF - Chill Out

Nightmares on Wax - Smokers Delight

Kenny Larkin - Azimuth

The Orb - U.F.Orb

808 State - ex:el

Goldie - Timeless

Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman

Tried to keep it to one per artist / band and cheated by having 21 (inc one compilation). The first one on the list. Anyone with any interest in techno should check out Colin Dale's 1st Outer Limits tbh. I would probably have a different list if you asked me next week. Nice list btw, Dr. G, we have very similar tastes. Not sure how that Adam F one made its way onto it though. It's not exactly full of classics imo (some very good tunes on it but loads of filler too).

You got the (old now like) Grooverider - Prototype Years comp, Dr. G? Nice. The Artcore / React series was good too. More like the stuff Bukem played rather than made. And MC Conrad always sounded like he had a bunged up nose (he probably did tbh). Just reminded me of Helter Skelter at NYE '98 btw. With the minutes silence for MC Stevie HyperD. Quite touching at the time but it didn't really work as well on the compilation tape from the event.

in order of preference. not sure i can. they all cover differnet periods of life.

i think the ed rush and optical - wormhole - period was my favourite (around 1997) because i was at uni getting off my tits most weekends and discovering raving to dnb. there wasn't much of a dnb scene up in the north east when i was a bairn, my raving education was mainly at the shindig at the riverside or megadog nights at the unversity. moving to sheffield for uni and discovering dnb raves was something else - the energy levels, the darkness, the mcs - everything about them was different and exciting. it's been my favourite form of dance music ever since.

ah, i love it. deserves to be on the list for metropolis alone. one of my favourite ever tunes.

Do you like A Guy Called Gerald's studio stuff, Gloom?

Also, V Classic was a great compilation from back in the day (Roni Size et al). Same goes for Planet V (same label - no, really) and Platinum Breakz on Metalheadz.

Bit surprised to see no 2unlimited on any of the lists posted so far.

essential hardcore was one of the first cds i ever bought

The first CD I ever owned was called Monster Hits. It had a dinosaur wearing a suit and shades on the cover.
