If you read the article it seems very straight-forward, you're just telling Firefox that your connection is fast enough to get information from a webpage in several chunks at the same time rather than one-by-one. That's how it sounds to me anyway.

Seen this a while back. It makes a noticable speed difference, but it does this by absolutely hammering the hell out of the server it's connecting to.

 

30 requests multiplied by the number of users doing this = a LOT of strain on the server (bearing in mind that 5 requests p/user is typical).

Cheers for that so what will happen if everyone does this then? Server becomes super slow and we're back to route 1?

If it's a forum you go on, you could be banned if admin finds out.
