That's who i was thinking of as well!

Bernard was compared to Geoffrey once as well i think!

So we have a player who is a cross between a singer, a butler, a hairdresser and the chef from South Park!!!

Was looking at a thread on SMB, when they put up a link to Alan Oliver's wikipaedia entry which currently starts with:

Alan Oliver is a famously flamboyant homosexual journalist and chief sports writer for the Evening Chronicle. He is the main Newcastle United reporter and often appears on Sky Sports News to discuss news concerning Newcastle.

Wonder how long it'll stay!

£2.6m over 2 years. What does that work out as weekly?

you not got a calculator?

£25,000 a week by my reckoning

I have, but I'm lazy. Good deal for us if that's the case.

you questioning my mental arithmetic?

Quick interview today:

http://www.football365.fr/angleterre/story...t-casser-.shtml

Claudio you have just signed a two year contract (with an option for a 3rd) with Newcastle. Why this choice?

I've always wanted to speak English. For me this is a new challenge. Newcastle is a big club with great facilities. There is everything there to be successful, all that is needed is a team. When the club contacted me I accepted immediately.

Did you have several offers?

Yes. From Qatar, Italy, Besiktas in Turkey... In France I had discussions with Bordeaux and Toulouse but nothing came of that. Newcastle was the best offer.

What are you objectives?

To play and have a great season. Everything I couldn't do last season. I want to be huge, show people and prove that I still have that hunger.

The English League is very physical...

Yes. That is a good thing, I need that. It is a new source of motivation.

Are nostalgic regarding Lyon?

I've missed Lyon for the past two months. I had some great times there and won six championship titles. I have kept in touch with a few players.

Cris has taken over as Lyon captain. What do you think of that?

First of all I didn't understand why Juninho gave up the armband, but Cris certainly deserves to be captain. He is a natural leader and I proud that he is my successor. When he arrived people thought he was only a small player. He proved that he can be great.

If that's the standard of teams who were after him, perhaps he's not as good as I'm imagining
