Poor farmers .

 

Second time in 10 years. Nee good at all. They've culled the cattle all around a few farms in Surrey where it broke out the other day. The crack is there was a laboratory half a mile away, carrying out all manner of tests, on animal related products, there was a flood and dodgy chemicals got in to a broken sewer.

 

Now I'm no biologist, but I bet you there's a few farmers arses twitching from John O'Groats to Dover. It took hold of the whole country so quickly the last time, and it started with a small outbreak like this, we'll have to get french fuckin chops again if it spreads like 1996, until it goes over the channel anyway, and with that come increased prices.

 

Good luck farmers, this decimated the poor cunts the last time, finished off loads of them.

Hopefully DEFRA learn some lessons from the shit way it was handled in 2001. It's a hellish state of affairs all together. Hopefully their culling techiniques have improved as well. It fair ripped through Northumberland and Cumbria last time, but the way transport has been cracked down on this time will hopefully mean that it's contained a bit better. The biggest difference though will be the fact that at the minute most livestock is outside, whilst it was March time when it kicked off last time and a lot of cattle were inside.

 

My thoughts are definitely with those farmers and their families in Surrey at the moment.

Why oh why has it been allowed to happen though. Same old thing aint it. Fuck all gets done until its too late, goes for everything in the country.

 

 

Why arent the bridleways shut off and policed? Its easy to spread it and it will do if precautions arent put into placed and stuck too.

The lock down zone will be made larger if and when necessary is the official line. Much was made last time about the "countryside being closed", a stance the government are keen to avoid this time, being as it is, the height of summer. But even if that was done, there are still plenty of other mechanisms for it spreading, notably deer.

Last time it wasn't caught very quickly at all, that is loads of animals had been moved around all over the place before they even knew it was here, it is very contagious, but it's not THAT contagious (it's not some apocalyptic virus of doom - it's not actually particularly fatal, just being foot and mouth free mean you have better export options for your food stuff - so £££'s issue really), so as long as it's not moved by us (as it was last time), then it won't sweep the country in a lightning manner or anything.

 

 

Also the Government agencies pretty much completely panicked last time, shutting down the entire countryside as they did had a fairly negligible effect on the general spread of the disease, but decimated local communities and tourism.

 

Not to mention that a vast amount of the livestock slaughtered in an increasingly panic ridden containment policy likely had no foot and mouth infection at all.

 

 

 

 

 

This time they've caught it much, MUCH earlier and with new systems can track animal movements better anyway.
