LuaLua clinches Olympiakos switch

Olympiakos have confirmed the signing of Portsmouth striker Lomana LuaLua on a three-year contract.

The Greek champions confirmed they had sealed a deal for the 26-year-old on their official club website.

The fee for the DR Congo international, who joined Portsmouth from Newcastle in 2004 after an initial spell on loan, is thought to be in the region of £2.8m.

LuaLua played 59 games for the Magpies before heading to Fratton Park where he scored 19 goals in 91 games.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp, who had revealed a move was imminent on Saturday, admitted: "Lua wants to move on, but I've no doubt he'll go away and be a great player for Olympiakos.

"He wants a change, he wants to play in a role behind the strikers and he wants to move abroad.

"He will get to play in the Champions League by moving to Greece.

"He has been a top Premier League player and he'll be a top player for them," Redknapp added.

LuaLua, who began his career with Colchester United, initially moved to Fratton Park on loan from Newcastle in February 2004 before making a £1.7m switch that summer.

Olympiakos have already strengthened this summer with the arrival of Real Madrid defender Raul Bravo and striker Darko Kovacevic from Real Sociedad.
