Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

City have been the first side to show an interest in Amelia and are understood to have already put in a bid, plus the loan of Bernado Corradi as part of the deal, as coach Sven Goran Eriksson does all he can to bring the player to Eastlands.

Newcastle and Portsmouth have also been thrown into the frame for the keeper's services with reports stating that they have officially approached the Tuscan side for information.

Livorno president Aldo Spinelli will only sell the player if the club receives a big offer, otherwise he is expected to keep hold of him until January when the transfer window opens and the side will know how their season is going.

Meanwhile, Corradi has also emerged as a possible target for Siena.

Siena have reportedly enquired about the Italian striker and will be willing to pay his salary as they need to strengthen their attack.

Reports suggest negotiations are expected to start over the next few days.

Dont even know who this guy is.

Do we really need a keeper?

I don't think we really need to sign a keeper like Amelia. He'd be expecting to go straight into the team and wouldn't be willing to play second fiddle to Shay Given like Harper has done all these years.

not a position we need strengthening tbh

reckon it's just that we've got money and papers know we're in the position to buy.

the story's always made more interesting if there are several clubs in for a player.

it's a non-starter imo
