Surely the freelancer declares them as a matter of routine for tax purposes aswell? Should a foreign Govt. have access to U.K. citizens banking paraphanalia? No. (not with out very good reason anyway) Frankly US "anti-terror" policy is more dangerous than Islamic terrorists to the Western way of life. Broadly I understand they need to bruise a few rights and freedoms to genuinely fight that sort of threat, but at the moment it's all one way with very little come back and they are basically burying rights and freedoms (although at the UK's Labour conference they have actually started to say that some knee-jerk measures need to be reconsidered).
