i wonder how this 4-3-3 would get on

-------------------------given

beye-----rozehnal-----------cacapa---------enrique

-----------------------geremi

----------barton----------------n'zogbia

martins---------------viduka------------------duff

Strangely missing our best player out of that team

You're surely not meaning Owen? Maybe it's because he's crocked again.

By the way, why is it "a good point" when someone mentions Duff's never seemed motivated to play for Newcastle, but absolute rubbish when I say Owen's never seemed motivated either? Tbh they seem to be two sides of the same coin - both good for other teams, both came here for the money, both perenially injured and lacking in form.

When Owen plays he looks motivated enough to me tbh.

Along with Joey Barton, Duff's a player I keep forgetting we have!

If at the beginning of 2005 someone told you we'd have Owen, Smith, Barton & Duff on our books in a little over 2 years, we'd have been creaming ourselves. Yet still some don't seem impressed with any of them.

The motivational thing for me is down to the manager. I think Sam will likely get a lot more out of Duff than Roeder could have ever dreamed of...

to be fair though craig, only owen has impressed in a toon shirt out of that lot - and he's only managed about 20 games for us in 2 years.

Neither are Viduka or Martins imo.

Eventually Owen is going to be completely replaced with new bionic parts, then we might start getting a decent return on him.

We have the technology.

i agree about viduka but i think martins can do a decent job out wide in a 4-3-3.

it looks like sam will stick with 4-3-3 while owen is out. i think that lineup above could be the most effective use of the formation with the players at our disposal.

Is Owen not due back before Duff?

your guess is as good as mine. i don't think we can plan the way we play around owen though until he puts in more than two games in a row before breaking down injured again.

Surely the same applies to Duff though.

Owen the 22nd of October and Duff the 3rd of November according to physioroom.com, not sure how reliable that is.

Owen's resumed training whereas Duff hasn't.

Meant to have done some shuttle runs I read somewhere....

I meant training properly numbnuts  Obviously he'll have done some fitness work while he's been out.

of course, but there are other players who can play wide left in a 4-3-3, n'zogbia and milner for example. mr contrary.
