Anyone got this?

Mrs Hips and I were in Fenwicks looking at bits and bobs and found ourselves in the tv/electricals bit. There was a 40" tv playing a HD promo tape which was a film taken over Sydney Aust. FUCK ME :lol: it was so clear that it was as if I was looking out of a window!

Must get one.

Personally I think it's quality. But you do need a decent telly. Football, movies and documentaries are top class.

I invested in one of these at the beginning of the year with Sky HD

and it is the mutts nuts although there aren't an awful lot of HD channels out there at the minute to choose from. That said Sky Sports HD is brilliant and the BBC HD channel is showing more and more in HD as well.

Well worth the money IMO

That's the one I was thinking of getting. £1063 from Dixons tax free (save around £66). I don't have Sky so I may have to review things.

We recently picked up a Sony Bravia KDL-40U2000 for £699 from Richer Sounds, not sure what the difference is between that and the one above (apart from being 2 letters apart!) but its a quality piece of kit.

For some of us it's just cheaper to look out the window!

If you want advice from an industry perspective don't invest in HD just yet, it's still a good five years from being the format of choice for productions and like everything give it a bit longer and it will be a lot cheaper.

I would recommend Samsung, LG and probably a dozen other brands over Sony. Poor components and customer care for the price.

And which ever you chose just make sure it's 100+Hz unless you miss that strobing effect.
