I think Redknapp might surprise a few people tbh.

A 60 year old man who has never finished in the top six and is settled in a lovely area that is about as far away from Newcastle as its possible to get in this country?

Forgive me if I don't jump for joy.

Finished 5th with West Ham, 1998-99.

It gets better, apparently Ashley is in Hong Kong.

Has been on holiday since last week. Which makes Anal's story about Ashley not being happy after the stoke game completely shite.

I was stood behind him at the Stoke game, so I don't know what your sauce is.

EDIT: Goes to show what shite half these jackanories are.

I was a good few rows behind so probably not.

Half the people from work have though (we use Newcastle Breweries car park), adding their two cents despite not even being interested in football, let alone Newcastle.

I don't think anyone outside of Mort and Ashley really have any idea who will be appointed. Especially not the media, or the bookies (whose odds are based primarily on the punters who place their faith in the media).

I thought Keegan was the messiah, therefore immaculate conception?

If Redknapp comes in it'll make no sense what-so-ever, and not for the obvious reason that he's shite and nobody wants him. I still don't get the whole very sudden removal of Sam if there was nobody lined up ready to step in to the job or a better plan in place. There would be no logic at all in that, they might just as well have left him in charge. It's all very strange the way it's come about and I just can't see why we'd ditch Sam in such a manner for a manager of equal quality. If Ashley is such a hot shot businessman as he's peddled around to be he MUST have something more lined up than sacking Sam on a whim then finding they don't have any more real options than managers like Redknapp, Hughes, etc.

Redknapp always struck me as someone who spun the wheel with his transfer dealings and sometimes struck lucky. The only thing in his favour is he'll get more out our present squad than Allardye ever would. But then so would Terry Mac.
