Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has turned down an offer to succeed Sam Allardyce as Newcastle manager.

Redknapp was Newcastle's number one choice but he has vowed to stay at Fratton Park

More to follow.

Typical Newcastle. You cant off hand sack your coach and not have a guarenteed replacement lined up. Oh sorry, forgot we are newcastle after all...

Dissapointing to say the least. Maybe Mort showing his Naivity?

This Portsmouth fan on SSN saying Newcastles fickle fans are to blame. Christ he's pissing me off.

Hope there's 90 minutes of "Big Sam's black and white army" at old trafford.

Excellent bit of management from Redknapp though, stringing it out for a while then saying no. Their players and fans will be buzzing now.

So thats that then. Hughes seems the media fave now. Lets hope not. Or, as we keep knocking these options back, are we slipping further down rather than aiming higher. I just hope it stops before we reach McLaren.

It was said that one of the things bothering Harry was that Ashley wasnt around to discuss the move with him and he wanted to feel wanted.

Anyway, do you think Ashley would go foreign? and does he talk too much to his mate down south for advice?

Shows a worrying lack of judgement on the new owners part.

Redknapp clearly didn't have the ambition we are all looking for.

This is pathetic.

Can't really argue with that. Ashley has engineered a situation where he's been made to look a fool. It shouldn't have happened.
