That means it's going to be Hughes now. Shit

Ruled himself out already hasn't he?

Poor management. Should have kept his fans and players on tenderhooks.

watch him backtrack though...he'd come here like a shot.

Did very well with Alkmaar recently though, just missing out the title at the last day by dropping from 1st to 3rd place, didn't they?

Shows a worrying lack of judgement on the new owners part.

Redknapp clearly didn't have the ambition we are all looking for.

This is pathetic.

Can't really argue with that. Ashley has engineered a situation where he's been made to look a fool. It shouldn't have happened.

FYP

Mashley, Mortley, whatever...it still shouldn't have happened!

Absoloutley, just that Mort seems to be avoiding any culpability from the media or the fans.

EDIT: and he's the only one in the country.

I think he's Ashley's administrator rather than the guy who makes the big decisions. Redknapp was Ashley's choice due to his big friendship with Kelmsy (sic).

I assume Ashley wasn't in the talks though.

Nope, out of the country until Tuesday.

Redknapp just quoted on SSN... "the Newcastle owner is the most ambitious man you'll ever meet in football."

He also said he never spoke to the owner.

He obviously got the jist of what Ashley was offering though.

Aye.

But it probably wouldn't impress a candidate that the owner has no interest in running the club or personally doing his utmost to bring in a new man.

He's an unambitious prick tbh. He'd have been slaughtered if he got the England job.

Didn't really rule himself out did he? Said he or his chairman hadn't been approached and didn't expect to be (probably because he knew we were persuing Redknapp and expected him to take the job).

I fully expect it to be Hughes now and if not him, it'll be Shearer. I don't think we're stupid enough to lower ourself to Steve McLaren and didn't Ashley say he thought of him in the same vein as his ex-wife?

As for Van Gaal, Mourinho, Houillier, etc.. I think we can forget that line of enquiry. What Shearergol said is spot on - i doubt they'd take kindly to being 'second choice' which we all now know they would be.

What a complete and utter fucking cock up.

I justified the timing of Allardyce's sacking by believing that Ashley and Mort are clever enough to have something up their sleeve and now it turns out that a.) They have absolutely no idea how to select a top class manager and b.) They have absolutely no idea how to recruit the man they want.

Once again we're a fucking laughing stock, well fucking done.
