1998 Bolton Wanderers (h) 2-1

Premier League

Barnes, Ketsbaia

36,767

When Nathan Blake equalised for the visitors, the celebrations of the travelling fans were drowned out by the ovation that greeted Alan Shearer returning to the team as a substitute, former captain Peter Beardsley leading the applause.

Shearer then headed the ball down for Ketsbaia to net a late winner, the Georgian celebrating as if possessed by demons, tossing his shirt into the Gallowgate end and kicking seven bells out an advertising hoarding. Bemused team mates eventually calmed him down long enough to play out the last few seconds.

Obviously cares a lot less for Adidas than wor 2J (think it was an Adidas hoarding). And the bit about calming him down is bollocks. When the ball came to him soon after the restart he tried to kick it over the East Stand iirc :nufc:

I think it was just because Dalglish wouldn't play him / give him much of a chance despite buying him. Might be remembering this wrongly but was Ketsbaia also a sub that day?

Aye. Hopeless though.

Yup, I'll always love him though for that and Zagreb. :nufc:
