He does some good charity work and I have no doubt he will do well in the role. Apparently the administration - if not the fans - always afforded Sir Bobby Robson great hospitality and he would often go to watch Sunderland when we were away, obviously hoping they were soundly beaten. :icon_lol:

I thought Shearer was patron? What happened to that?

Niall Quinn praised the work of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation after becoming the charity's fourth regional patron.

The Sunderland chairman joins Alan Shearer, Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson and Ipswich legend Mick Mills after the appointment was revealed at the Stadium of Light earlier today.

The quartet will represent the areas of Sunderland, Tyneside, Teesside and East Anglia respectively on behalf of the Foundation, which was set up by the late Sir Bobby before his death from cancer in July 2009 at the age of 76.

A credit to the club, a top class man, I love Niall Quinn. :icon_lol:

I have donated a bit to the SBRF, a great cause.
