One flaw is a memory corruption issue that could be exploited if a user is downloading a .ZIP file with a really long filename.

The second flaw is an address bar spoofing issue.

Frankly, I wouldn't have rated both of these issues as 'Highly Critical' myself since they both require user interaction (but hey I'm not currently a full time security researcher).

Then again, Mozilla just fixed a memory corruption related issue with Firefox 2.0.0.13 yesterday, which was rated as "Critical" by Mozilla itself. Though Firefox 2.0.0.13 did fix a spoofing issue which was only rated as being "High".

Apple has not yet made any kind of patch available for Safari 3.1 for the new issues, so if you're running Safari - also use common sense and as always - DON'T VISIT UNTRUSTWORTHY SITES! (but that goes for any browser on any platform).

Bit fucking crafty (but clever) making it a download in the Apple Software updater for iTunes. Basically touting it to Windows users. Not the case now seemingly, but last week me Sister installed it as she thought it was an update for iTunes (didn't read it properly) and it set itself as the default browser!

bollocksy bloatware.

try firefox beta 3.4. its faster than all the others and pretty stable to...

IE 7 is faster than firefox and in tests Safari is 20% faster than that.

The next release of Safari (I think there is a beta somewhere) will be even faster.

Stabiltiy wise my Safari has shut itself down about twice in a year.

IE7 only gets any speed due to the 10 children that are sacrificed every hours at MS HQ. :nufc:

I'm fairly sure FF release will be better.

Never tried Safari though.

I hate watching IE load sites. With Safari I've just got used to the site 'flipping' in place.

  • 1 year later...

I'm currently experimenting with Flock

If you use social tools of any kind (blogs, you tube, twitter, facebook) then I think you might like to take a look ;)

Installed google chrome about a week ago and finding it excellenti.

Yeah, I've just switched to that as it has a similar function to 'top sites'.

Seems quite speedy...but I really wanted the itunes cover flow style thing for my webpages. Looks like the dogs bollocks.

Just installed Safari 4.

Anyone know how to get this "top sites" doobry to work?

It's not just MAC compatible...or vista...is it?

Isn't it just click edit and then 'pinning' them to that big black screen??

You need a big black screen to be there in the first place though.

Read a few forums where people are saying you need a certain video card or codecs and stuff.

Couldn't be arsed. I'm loving Chrome now.

You've gone incognito. Pages that you view in this window won't appear in your browser history or search history, and they won't leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window.
