TRANSFER RUMOURS

 

Chelsea will make a third attempt to sign Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard if Frank Lampard, as expected, leaves at the end of the season. (Various)

 

Manchester City have had discussions with Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho about a move to Eastlands. (Independent on Sunday)

 

Barcelona striker Thierry Henry is keen for a return to the Premier League. However, although the former Arsenal forward is thought to prefer a switch to a London club, it is unlikely he will move back to the Gunners. (Various)

 

Manchester United are to put a £100m buy-out clause in Cristiano Ronaldo's new contract to ward off potential buyers. (News of the World)

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is considering legal action against Neil Warnock after the former Sheffield United boss questioned his integrity in his newspaper column.

 

Warnock suggested that Rafa was given a yearly hamper from Harrods for his team selections as he prepared to send out an understrength Reds side at Fulham for the second year running (Harrods and Fulham are both owned by Mohamed Fayed).

 

Last season, the Cottagers beat Liverpool to stay up at the Blades' expense. (Various)
