he just goes as missing in big games as Ronaldo does.

I completely agree.

i completely disagree

Do you know what about though?

ronaldo doesnt go missing in big games, he just isnt as good as he is against the teams outside the top 4, but you can say that about more or less every player in the world. Also scoring in the champions league final and being man utds biggest threat at the nou camp isnt exactly bad considering man utds team is full of world class players

What about his bottling of those two penalties?

what about the pens in the arsenal game where he scored the 1st one then had to take it again and scored again? also plenty of world class players have missed pens

In their two biggest games of the season pretty much, in a row. I'd class that as bottling.

To honest it's more of a criticism of those who think he's the best player in the world bar none (or ever :nah: ) than of the player himself.

Yeh but for me missing a penalty isn't always bottling.

Plus i reckon Robert was just as good if not better at free kicks and long shots than Ronaldo.

What is it then? Fair enough if it was one, but two. Especially that one in the final with his dodgy run up, bottled it.

It was on those two occasions imo. It's not the crux of my argument however.

I think he was trying to be a bit clever rather than doing the simple thing. e.g normal run up place it, run away celebrating.

He wanted his penalties to be something special and suffered for it, so rather than placing it nicely into the top corner he wanted to break the net.

were you not sayin trezeguet is not overated? when hes reguarded as one of the top strikers in europe. But going off what your saying about ronaldo should go the same for trezeguet as he missed a pen in the world cup final

Ronaldo's the specialist penalty-taker at Man Utd. Missing two in a row in big games suggests an iffy big match temperament to me. It's missing the point though in any case. He rarely plays that well in big games. Ironically when he's sort of cured that at the business end of the CL this season, the penalty misses spoilt it for him.

I've not mentioned Trezeguet being a bottler though. I never said Cristiano isn't one of the top players in the World just on those occassions he flapped.

So whats your point? He missed 2 pens in a tournament that man utd went and won anyway and did he not finish as top scorer?

My point was that he flapped in those two instances.

he didnt flap like. His barca pen was unlucky and it was his stupid run up that messed up the one in the final. but more or less every main pen taker misses a pen so your arguements pointless

It's obviously not though, due to the pressure situations he was in both times, and he flapped.

Yes indeed he did. But once again I was talking about those penalties as people seem to be ignoring.

If he'd scored a hat trick and been MOTM in the final it would have been notable as it would be one of the only occasions he did turn up in a big game. He did play alright though. Not to his normal standard.
