Not excactly been the close season we might have hoped for when KK took over etc., but it's always a buzz when it starts again.

I would rather we didn't have one to be honest.

You'd rather we didn't have millions of pounds given to us a year for the small matter of putting a small logo on our shirts?

It would look better but you're right.

Well obviously the money is important but at the same time I would rather have the dignity and self respect displayed in not having a logo.

I don't even think that Northern Rock gave us that much to be honest.

Oh and London Reds have scored. (how grimly predictable)

Aye, even better they ditched the sponsor and put up season tickets to make up for the shortfall. That would be spot on

Well I think the NR £ had already been spent long before the Ashley regime anyway as the payment was taken up front.

To be honest I even like what Aston Villa have done.

What was the Northern Rock deal worth 25m? It's a big slice to give up because of principles. Athletic Bilbao have coped for 100 years though.

Well I can envision a nice tacky 'Sports Direct' logo on there soon enough so I wouldn't worry principles.

Aye, because that would bring in loads of money. Why would we give up that sort of income?

1421: And that Tottenham team news is confirmed. Dimitar Berbatov is on the bench, with Darren Bent playing on his own up front.

that's him off then, surely.

I can't quite get my head around this but presumably sponsorship is an effective way of growing your own business.

If MA advertises his own business on the shirt that makes him better off doesn't it?
